Hi there,

I found an unexpected pattern in my journaling the other day and it caught me off guard in such a good way. I was having a tough day and suddenly it felt like I'd found a little bit of magic, a little spark of delight I hadn't noticed before.

I thought I'd show you how I found it, just in case you'd like to look for some magic of your own.
Good Stuff Roundup Printable Journal Page with colourful pencils, polka dot paper clips and notebooks
I was working through the journal page in the image above, my good stuff roundup. It's from this set in my shop, but I've made this page available for download right now if you'd like to give it a try. Just click here or on the image above*.

So there I was, filling all the circles with with good stuff and adding fun little details wherever I could, including:

1. Making longer lists - Every prompt on the page asks for one thing, but where I felt like it, I wrote more than one thing. Three or four even. I've never been very good at following instructions, even my own.

2. Being super specific - Wherever possible, I included a few specific, meaningful details in my answers. For example, there's a prompt about getting from here to there. My response included not only the mode of transportation, but also a few words about what parts I like best.

After filling in all of the circles, I added this note at the bottom of the page...

Takeaway:

It's something I've been experimenting with in my journaling. When I get to the end of a journal page or entry, if it isn't already obvious, I ask myself, what's the takeaway?

It gives me a chance to look back over my writing and see if anything jumps out, such as a next step, a sensation, or insight. For a moment, as I looked back over the circles, I wasn't sure I'd find one. Nothing jumped out.

But I did notice that I'd used the word open in three circles. And when I looked further, I noticed that my responses in two additional circles were all about openness to experience and my two place-related answers described wide open spaces.

I didn't plan it that way or even think about it while I was writing, but there it was. The good things in my world right now are all about being open to experience and possibilities and enjoying those adventures with others. It left me feeling really hopeful and so appreciative of the people I'm lucky to share this world with and the wide spectrum of opportunities on the horizon. I couldn't wait to get back out there and try again.

How about you? What surprises will you find in your good stuff? What's your takeaway? Drop me a line or reply to this email anytime and let me know!

xoxo,
Christie
