Tell the Senate Judiciary Committee to Vote 'NO' on HB 79
We have fought hard for better criminal justice reform & public safety. Now some members of the General Assembly want to reverse our progress. We need your help!
HB 79 is scheduled to be heard in Senate Judiciary on Monday 2/28. So, we need your statement telling the committee members to vote NO on this bill.
HB 79: Pretextual stops. Puts back into place the ability of officers to stop vehicles for perceived violations such as missing license plate lights, brake lights, excessive exhaust noise, tinted windows, & materials hanging from mirror.
Reinstates the ability of officers to stop, search, or seize any person, place, or thing solely on the basis of the perceived odor of marijuana.
If you are able to write statements, please send them to Cindy (cjohnson@va-bloc.org) or Q (qcogdell@va-bloc.org) by Sunday, 2/27/22 at 6pm.
You can also call the members of the committee and ask them to vote No on HB 79, but we recommend doing so before 8am on Monday.
As always, if you need assistance, reach out to us. We'll be glad to help.
Thanks in advance,
VA BLOC
