The purpose of the academic-centered ISL Community Conversations is to share information with parents and caregivers regarding academic programming at ISL to support ISL parents and caregivers.

We are thrilled to announce that the planning for the ISL virtual small-group series initiative is currently underway. A purpose of the virtual small-group series initiative is to create opportunities for members of the ISL school community to build authentic connections with one another. BLACK HISTORY MONTH COMMUNITY EVENTS
Black history month begins on February 1 2022 and we are pleased to share a continuous list of resources and events as we near February 1 and throughout the month!
African American Resource Collection
The African American Resource Collection serves the informational, educational, and cultural needs of African Americans and the larger New Orleans community. The AARC’s focus is to cultivate a rich collection of reference and circulating fiction and non-fiction materials related to digital, financial, and health literacy and black culture, throughout the New Orleans Public Library system. The AARC facilitates community engagement and promotes community wellness through cultural awareness programs, outreach, and community partnerships. Our goal is to REACH New Orleans through Resources, Equity and Inclusion, AARC, Community, and Help. Learn more here.
New Orleans Public Library’s Annual Art Contest
Celebrate Black History Month 2022 with the New Orleans Public Library’s annual art contest. This year’s theme is Ways we Stay Healthy: Health and Wellness in the Black Community. From the Black Panther Party’s People’s Free Medical Clinics to ways to stay healthy during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and beyond, Orleans Parish students in grades K-12 are invited to share art inspired by health and wellness in the Black community.
