Message from the Nurse Office

Greetings Parents,

First, I want to again thank all the parents for working with us these last few weeks. The positive number of cases in the city are extremely high and with this comes exposures and quarantines. I wanted to clarify a few questions that have been frequently asked these last few weeks.

What is considered fully vaccinated ? -Students are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after your second dose of the covid vaccine.
Once your child is vaccinated, they do not have to quarantine for exposure but still have to quarantine if positive.

What if I do not want to vaccinate my child ?- You must sign a letter of dissent and email this to me or send it to your student's folder.  If your child is exposed to covid, they will quarantine for 5 days and return with a negative test. If positive, they quarantine for a full 10 days and return. No test is required.

What if my child has only one dose / is not fully vaccinated before Feb 1st? The rules will remain the same. Anytime there is a class exposure, your child will quarantine and return after 5 days with a negative test or 10 days without until they are fully vaccinated.

There is a lot of new and changing information. I hope this clarified some things. Please feel free to contact me via email or phone if you have any questions or concerns. I try to respond as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,
Kim Carbo RN

Did you know ISL- Dixon has a garden for students? That's right, by the modular building you will see the planter boxes. Students who participate in gardening utilize new learning styles, and develop their perspectives and ways of learning to incorporate critical 21st-century skills such as "curiosity, flexibility, open-mindedness, informed skepticism, creativity, and critical thinking."

How can you help students with their garden? You can donate seeds to your child's classroom. Please check with the teacher about what is preferred.
