Dear Alumni,
I hope you are all settling into the New Year and staying healthy. We continue to review COVID-19 data and follow guidelines to keep our students, faculty, and staff as safe as possible. We look forward to and plan to return to in-person classes soon. I am energized and excited about all that is on the horizon for the College – expanding campus locations, new academic programs, Experiential Learning/Simulation Center completion, programs for student success and support and so much more. We are expanding our faculty composition and continue to interview candidates for all locations. On April 20, 2022, we will honor and celebrate Fran and Earl Ziegler, the college’s namesakes, during our Inaugural OU College of Nursing Founders Day Celebration. This will be held annually on the third Wednesday of April going forward, a date chosen to commemorate Fran’s birthday. During this event we will have a special dedication to the College and recognize our 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. I am proud of the work and commitment by our faculty and staff as we achieved a rise in 2022 U.S. News & World Report rankings for Best Online Master’s in Nursing, as well as accomplishments such as the selection of Dr. Charleen McNeill, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, as President Elect of the Southern Nursing Research Society, and student accolades, including Natalia Sotomayor being named one of 16 Outstanding Seniors for exceptional achievements in scholarship, honors, leadership and service from the University of Oklahoma. Our future is bright, we welcome our new students for Spring 2022 and celebrate our seniors graduating in May.
The continued work each of you and other nursing professionals do in the community is invaluable. I am appreciative of our faculty, staff, preceptors, clinical partners, alumni, and friends for all they do to support the College and our students. It is an honor to serve as Dean.
Sincerely,
Julie Anne Hoff, PhD, MPH, RN
