DCPVL Celebrates Black History Month

Each February, Americans celebrate the innumerable and enduring contributions of African Americans during Black History Month. Certainly, there is tremendous value in recognizing these contributions that helped advance our knowledge and our civilization in so many ways. We bore witness to the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and so many other people of color. As well, while we continue to reel from the utter devastation that COVID-19 has inflicted upon every aspect of our lives, we must recognize that the pandemic has hit our communities of color hardest. In the face of this race-based unfairness and inhumanity, it is more important than ever to recognize the achievements and contributions of African Americans. At the same time, however, we must do much more to ensure that African American history is not confined to a single month or series of events.

DCPVL is committed to creating a safe space for everyone no matter who you are. We value all the similarities and differences that make us all unique, and encourages you to be yourself.  So as we celebrate Black History Month by remembering leaders like Frederick Douglass, Zora Neale Hurston, and Dr. King, let’s also do more. Let’s rise to their example by working to make this country what it ought to be.

In support of Black History Month, DCPVL is excited share with you, Queen of the Court a weekly social media campaign that will occur every Wednesday in honor of #WomanCrushWednesday we will be highlighting a notable African American woman volleyball player. Look out for our post on our social medial channels.

New LeagueApps Mobile App

We are happy to announcement major improvement to the LeagueApps software. For those that are not aware, LeagueApps is an external sports management and online registration software that manages DCPVL player registration, waivers, payments, schedules, and much more. You may have navigated the LeagueApps website if you ever registered for any of the previous DCPVL seasons or tournaments. We will continue to use the same software in season 12.

LeagueApps has a new mobile application named "LeagueApps Play". Play is a team management and communications app that is totally free for players to download––and it’s ad-free too. Once a player is drafted and assigned to a team, you will have instant access to the apps features. Simply sign in to the app with the same email and password credentials used when you registered for Season 12.

Players can use the Play app to:

- View team schedules, RSVP for games, practices, and more

- Send chat messages and get real-time notifications so you don’t miss a beat

- View automatically updated league standings and scores

- Quickly reference team rosters, and look up staff contact information

Captains and Staff can also use the Play app to:

- Schedule, modify, and cancel events, instantly notifying participants

- Track RSVPs and check-in participants as they arrive

- View roster and player information, including invoice status

For any questions or assitance with the LeagueApps Play mobile app please email info@dcpvl.org
