BACK TO SCHOOL

With school just around the corner, we thought we would share our favourite resources with you.

Our friends at Ava's Voice have put together some helpful resources for children with Usher syndrome returning to the classroom.  You can find them here: https://avasvoice.org/ushresources/. They include accommodation and collaboration tips, as well as templates to personalise for your child.
Association for Children with Disability will be running a range of free online workshops to prepare for your child's Student Support Group Meetings: The workshops include:
  • Children’s rights in education
  • How parents can advocate for their child at school
  • How to prepare for a Student Support Group (SSG) meeting
  • What are reasonable adjustments?

FRIDAY 25 MARCH 2022
9:00am-4:00pm
ONLINE LIVE AND ON DEMAND

We are pleased to release our fantastic program that continues our learnings from the 2020 USHER IN FOCUS Webinars.  UsherKids Australia will bring together families and a diverse range of healthcare professionals who work with children with Usher syndrome on March 25th, 2022 to exchange information and share different perspectives on some of the most important transition periods facing our children today. The program will also include an opportunity for parents to build relationships with others, as well as start an important exchange of evidence-based practices for caring and supporting children with Usher syndrome in various settings. And as always, we will hear from those with lived experience of Usher syndrome about what aspects of transitions worked well and not so well to arm families with various strategies to improve outcomes.
