The Dargebotene Hand Zurich plans to launch a new English Hotline by the beginning of 2023. Therefore, we are looking for new English- and German-speaking volunteers. Perhaps you are familiar with the Dargebotene Hand, also known as Tel143. The Dargebotene Hand with the telephone number 143 is an officially recognised emergency number and part of the primary Swiss psychosocial care. It provides those who seek help 24/7 an opportunity for a conversation. The service is built on conviction and voluntary work. Thus, the planned English Hotline will be anonymous and free of charge.
The overall goal is to reach more members of the Swiss society and improve their mental health through this new English service. The Hotline is thought for English-speaking people living in Switzerland who cannot converse in any Swiss national language or feel more comfortable speaking English.
Thus, the Dargebotene Hand Zurich needs English-speaking volunteers motivated to participate in the pilot project. The training course for the English Hotline will start in May 2022, and the recruitment process has already begun. We are looking to recruit volunteers from English Organisations like the American International Club of Zurich. To achieve our goal and improve mental health by providing free, anonymous, psychosocial phone support for Switzerland’s considerable and increasing English-speaking population.
