From the Principal

Dear Parkview Families,

Thank you for your time to attend conferences last week. We appreciate the partnership we have with our families and we value the opportunity to work together. Much research has found that when parents and teachers work as partners, children do better both in school and at home.

Students continue to go outside for recess when weather permits. The snow is wet as the weather changes drastically from the sun and snow. Many students keep extra clothes in their backpack or locker so they can change if they need to. Please consider this option if it will help your child to be comfortable at school.

We are registering for fall 2022 kindergarten. If you have an incoming kindergarten student, please check the website for information, or call the school office at 952-431-8350 so we can be sure we have your child in our plan for next year! We are excited to start planning for our newest Parkview students to begin!!

The District 196 School Board approved a calendar change, making April 21 a no-school day for all students in the district. April 21 will continue to be a day of work for employees to provide time to complete regular duties that have been deferred while responding to significant staffing challenges caused by COVID-19 this school year. Friday, April 22 is already a scheduled data analysis day for staff, with no school for all students. The full article explaining the rationale for this change can be found here

There is no school on Monday, February 21 in recognition of Presidents’ Day. We hope you have a nice long weekend with your family.

In Partnership,
Nicole Garcia, Principal

Parkview Students Jump for Their Hearts and Help Save Lives

Students at Parkview are jumping at the chance to fight heart disease and stroke, our nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers. On March 18th, Parkview will host its 12th annual Kids Heart Challenge, formally known as Jump Rope for Heart. This event is to raise money for the American Heart Association. Donations fund lifesaving heart and stroke research and community and educational programs for our youth.

Kids Heart Challenge teaches students how physical fitness benefits the heart and shows them that volunteering can be a fun and positive experience for the whole community. The need to educate children about the importance of physical activity couldn’t be timelier. According to recent studies, about one-third of children ages 2 to 19 are overweight and obese.

By including physical activity into their daily routines, kids can significantly reduce the onset and burden of heart disease,” said Sara Silvernail, American Heart Association spokesperson. “By raising money through Kids Heart Challenge, we are preventing heart disease and obesity for the next generation of Americans. Kids are literally jumping into a heart healthier life while becoming passionate about raising money for other kids with sick hearts.

If this is something that your family decides to do and your child is able to collect donations, please return the envelope sometime before March 18th. Please help our students help others by making a donation. If you would like to help more, call your nearest American Heart Association office at 1-800-242-8721.

Nurse's Office Donations Needed

Our health office is running low on pants and underwear for students to borrow when bathroom accidents happen. We are in need of underwear and especially pants in all sizes for girls and boys. Stretchy pants or sweatpants are a little more forgiving in finding clothing that fits, but any donations are welcome!
