Student Survey

Student Survey

Dear Fellow AHIMA Member:

You are invited to participate in an important research survey on political astuteness that I am conducting as part of my graduate degree requirements for the Master of Science - Health Information Management (HIM) program at Stephens College, in Columbia, Missouri.

The goal of this research is to assess baseline political astuteness of HIM professionals with a minimum RHIA certification; understand the impact of key demographic and education variables on political astuteness; and, assess the degree to which political astuteness is correlated with entry into health policy careers. The results may be used to 1) inform opportunities for improved professional and academic curricula focused on the health policy development and related activities, and 2) support the professional association’s advocacy efforts and 3) inform future study on political astuteness of HIM professionals.

The survey is voluntary and should take no more than 10 minutes of your time. You may discontinue your participation at any time prior to submission. The results of my research may be presented as part of professional meetings and submitted for possible publication in the professional literature. However, to preserve anonymity and maintain confidentiality, individual or personal identifiers will not be collected or maintained with this survey.

There are no direct benefits to participants in this study. While low, potential risks include uneasiness by the survey questions and concerns about confidentiality and anonymity.

If you are willing to participate, use the link or QR code below to complete the survey. The survey requires confirmation of AHIMA membership and current certification as a RHIA, followed by a series of demographic, education and professional questions and 36 “yes” or “no” statements to assess political astuteness.

If you have any questions about my research, please contact me at emigraham20@sc.stephens.edu.
