New Label: AnalogFather

A new label from Lithuania joined NativeDSD today! AnalogFather is a small independent label & analogue recording and mastering studio. Their catalog is not large yet, as they have been exclusively focused on quality and supporting talented musicians in the Baltic States.

Their DSD files are made directly from analogue master tapes transferred to the Korg MR-2000S studio recorder and analog to digital converter. No equalizers, limiters, compressors or software filters are used in the production of these DSD downloads. It’s a Pure Analog DSD conversion with no additional editing.

Here are their first three releases, we hope you enjoy them!

> Eugenijus Jonavičius

The album’s songs compositions were created in the Vydūnas Center of Kintai, where workshops for artists and musicians are organized. This album is the result of several years of creation. Eugenijus Jonavičius is a well-known performer in Lithuania. Eugenijus is a frequent guest in recording studios, he participates in artists creative camps and organizes guitar master classes. His earlier works have been published in CD format: “Jazz from Lithuania” and “Jazz from Vilnius”. He actively participates in Lithuanian and foreign jazz festivals.

> John’s Shower Band

John’s Shower Band (JSB) – playing with music like kids playing with Legos. Fusing popular genres of music like Jazz, Hip-Hop and Rock, these guys are creating a unique sound and style of playing that cannot be mistaken for anything else.
Coming from different backgrounds, the 4 band members; Jonas, Kazimieras, Simonas and Vainius put their musical ego aside for the sake of creating the most amazing music possible. JSB is something that you must take with an open heart to truly experience the full beauty of it.
John’s Shower Band in Lithuania has gained recognition as one of the most talented and interesting young bands, winning 2nd place in NOVUS music competition and 1st place in the “Garažas” Garage Band competition. In 2020 JSB released their debut album “Shampoo”, and a year later the EP “Last Moments Of” appeared.

> Radiostandart

Radiostandart is Audrius Straupas, an ambient and new age music composer and performer from Lithuania.

Audrius says "The Transfer is a musical journey, showing how a young 16 year old back in 2005 decided to create music without any music theory knowledge. The main purpose to create was to document my complicated emotions, which I didn't know how to express at such a young age. The main ambition was 'No matter what, the sound design, mixing, arrangements - has to be done by me. No third-party loops and samples. Mixing had to be done by me also.' To understand, to experiment, to grow and accept change. That's what transferring yourself is all about."

New Releases from Lawo Classics & Cobra Records

> Bettina Smith, Jan Willem Nelleke

Mezzo-soprano Bettina Smith and pianist Jan Willem Nelleke invite us into a somewhat forgotten and seldom performed repertoire with their album, “The Artist’s Secret.” The album contains works for voice and piano, written by female composers.

The title of the album is taken from Dutch composer Henriëtte Bosmans’ work “The Artist’s Secret,” with text by Olive Schreiner (1855-1920). Here the artist’s secret is that he paints his works with his own blood. This recording is the result of the performers’ intensive work throughout an entire year, mapping out the repertoire of these female composers within the art song genre, and the choice of title reflects the performers’ feeling of having gained insight into these well-kept, “secret” songs.

> Rune Alver

Pianist Rune Alver concludes his Signe Lund trilogy with the digital release Malgré moi (Despite Me). The album is only available as a digital download. It is not available on CD or SACD disc.

The album contains works from a wide time span. “Three Songs Without Words” op. 6 dates from 1886, when the composer was only 18 years old. It was small compositions like these that formed the basis for Edvard Grieg’s warm letter of recommendation to her for a study stay in Germany.

> Pauline Oostenrijk

In 2020, Pauline Oostenrijk surprised with the album The Notes are Swallows, on which she can be heard not only as an oboist, but also as a pianist. With the album Fantasia! Dialogue for One she continues on this path, this time with the magnificent Fantasias by Georg Philipp Telemann.

In these short, varied solo pieces, written in a free form without a fixed structure, dialogues are constantly taking place. In the Fantasias for piano (originally for harpsichord), these are dialogues between the left and right hands; in the Fantasias for oboe (originally for flute) the dialogues are suggested in a refined way.

The alternation between oboe and piano also creates a dialogue between the two instruments on the album, and between Pauline as an oboist and Pauline as a pianist. A multi-layered dialogue for one person.
