Welcome to March everyone!

We had a very productive February with the start of our 'Lets Get Active' Youth Development Programme and applications for young people who may wish to be involved with our revamped Youth Council programme.

But a BIG and fresh development was the amazing transformation of our outdoor space for The Hangout Youth Centre. What a lot of people my not realise is that over the past 12+ months CYT have been seeking ways to implement artificial turf but there was a large financial commitment of around $20,000 to raise and this was unfortunately at no success as we had to focus our attention on other valuable programmes and overheads. But two amazing local businesses heard the call and jumped on board - at no hesitation - to make this happen.

Fulton Hogan kindly donated the artificial grass, knowledge, and consumables. Barrett Homes donated their time, skillset and manpower to prep the space and install. We would like to thank Adam (Fulton Hogan) and Emily, Dee and Jason (and team from Barrett Homes) for making this dream a reality and already having positive impact.

 

Cromwell Youth Trust are excited to host an important community event for whanua - and it is FREE!
Sexwise is run by THETA (The Theatre in Health Education Trust) who specialise in delivering applied theatre-based programmes on health related issues to rangatahi/youth in mainstream schools and alternative education.

This evening presentation will be for parents/guardians where you will learn how to have transformational conversations with your rangatahi exploring gender, sexuality and relationships.

CYT highly recommend any parent/guardian with a child (no matter their age) attend this 2 hour presentation.

COMING UP THIS MONTH FOR OUR YOUTH

JOIN THE CROMWELL YOUTH COUNCIL

Cromwell Youth Trust are looking for youth superstars to join our community focused Youth Council Team!

Are you attending years 7-13 (aged 10/11- 18 years old)?
Are you wanting to make a difference in your community for you, your peers and whanau?
Do you want to be the voice for the Youth in Cromwell?
Then we want to hear from you!

The first council meeting will commence on Thursday 17th March and conclude on Thursday 7th July.

PENCIL IN THESE UPCOMING CLOSURES

At times we require to close The Hangout Youth Centre due to various reasons; these could include Public Holidays, Staff Professional Development, etc.

We aim to provide as much notice as possible to ensure you can plan ahead.
Below are up to date planned closures of The Hangout for March.

Monday 21st March - Otago Anniversary
Friday 25th March - Staff on Programmes
Monday 28th March - Staff Wellbeing Day

Please Note: Due to the current COVID climate we may require closure for an extended period of time at short notice. We appreciate your understanding.

HOW ARE CYT KEEPING OUR COMMUNITY SAFE

We are thankful for all the mahi our young people and community are doing during these times. At The Hangout Youth Centre, and our programmes, we continue to implement safe practices to ensure we can continue operating and offering this vital service for our young people.

Any updates or changes to the current system will be updated through our social media and email.

BREAKFAST PROGRAMME

A successful start!
Cromwell Youth Trust have enjoyed bringing a FREE breakfast programme initiative to our youth for the month of February and we love that we can continue this. Currently we are averaging 35 young people per session and with word spreading at how awesome it is we know it will continue to grow!

Please be aware that we aim to operate this each Tuesday and Wednesday but there may be times it cannot operate without notice due to staff being unavailable.
