February 18th, 2022

Hello <<First Name>>,

Upcoming Changes

We are now approaching the end of February and also my upcoming Home Assignment. Two years have gone by since I moved into the village and joined the Wey people in January 2020. I will be flying to the US from Senegal on March 3rd and will be there for a few months before flying to Trinidad. These last few moments in the village are bittersweet. I am trying to pack up my house since I will be gone for the rest of the year. This will be a long Home Assignment as I have accumulated time from these past 7 years on the field. I will miss the village and the people a lot. You can pray that God will continue to work in the lives of people on my end of the village. I gave them two radios and some memory cards with the Bible lessons. Let us continue to trust that as they listen the light of the truth will illuminate their spiritual darkness.

My teammates and I will be leaving the village on February 21st and driving to Senegal. They will be going to see their kids who will have a short school break, but they will be returning by themselves to continue the Bible teaching. Please remember them in prayer as they will be on their own without co-workers.

Teaching Update

The teaching has been going well but progressing slowly.

During the teaching of Lesson 18 with the children crossing the Red Sea in the second location, we were really praising God to hear one on the village elders say that he has been with the Catholic church for a long time, but he is hearing a lot of new things and he is glad that he can understand it so well in his own language. He also said that he wishes that God will continue to speak to them directly about all the lessons being taught. For the people in the village, when they dream about something, they view it as God talking to them.

During another lesson the same village elder said that he has listened to the message of other religions, but our teaching is clear, and he has never heard these stories before. Then he really stressed to Jakob that we should not give up on them and to keep coming back to teach them God’s word. He said that whoever doesn’t want to come, that is their choice, but they want to understand!

Then another lady said- “first we need to thank God because he sent them here to share God’s word with us and it is also good that we can be like the children of Israel who accepted God’s covenant.” She was also happy to hear of what happened in the beginning of the world and how God communicated with the people. There are still quite a few lessons remaining before we can get to the birth of Jesus Christ. Please keep praying for Jakob and his helpers as they continue to work on developing the remaining lessons.

Thank you for labouring in the vineyard with us through your prayers and support. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21.
