Pomegranates & Fig Trees

Of all of our fruit tree offerings, figs and pomegranates are amongst the easiest to grow and maintain. Both prefer the lean soils common to our area and don’t require much pruning. Neither require multiple trees or specific pollenizers — with only a single tree of your favorite variety, you can enjoy delicious fruits!

Tomato stems can grow roots!

Tomatoes are the only vegetable which can be planted with its stem buried deep in the ground. You can ‘fix’ leggy tomatoes by doing this! Clip bottom leaves first.

One option is dig a hole deep enough to accommodate the rootball and stem, such that 6-8” of the plant remains above the soil. Another option is to dig a shallow trench for the tomato such that it can be laid in sideways.

When planting sideways, don’t bend the stem too hard trying to force it to point upward. As the plant grows, it will naturally reorient towards the light.
