ESCAPE THE WORLD FOR A MOMENT AT COWRA CIVIC CENTRE

Dear <<First Name>>,

Life has certainly been challenging of late. We are pleased to see some of relaxed rules around COVID but continue to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patrons. So although you don’t have to QR Code in anymore and masks won’t be compulsory from Friday 25 February, we will still encourage patrons to wear masks when not eating or drinking and to maintain a social distance where possible.

Last weekend we sadly experienced some technical issues with our cinema system that prevented us from screening most of our films. The replacement part has finally arrived this morning and we are back up and running! Phew! We are now working with the distributors to arrange for 1 or 2 rescheduled sessions for those that missed out because of the problems. We have already managed this for
Leopoldstadt - see below.

One of the highlights for this weekend is the first screening of
Here Out West, a new Australian film which is receiving a lot of critical acclaim. We are lucky enough to welcome one of the writers from the film to join us on Saturday night for a Q&A about the film and unearthing new Australian stories including those from regional Australia. We hope you will join us for this special event.

PLUS we have just announced a single screening of
The Beatles Get Back - The Rooftop Concert. This title has been released for only a few days in cinemas and we are pleased to be showing this on Thursday 24 February at 7pm.

KING RICHARD – Official Trailer

KING RICHARD

★★★★½
"The Williams sisters' saga is so improbably inspirational that watching their ascent, coupled with Smith's crackerjack performance, had me grinning the entire time. It's the most sheerly pleasurable movie I've seen so far this year." FILM WEEK

★★★★
"an extraordinary story" TIME OUT

Based on the true story that will inspire the world, Warner Bros. Pictures’
King Richard follows the journey of Richard Williams, an undeterred father instrumental in raising two of the most extraordinarily gifted athletes of all time, who will end up changing the sport of tennis forever. Two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith (Ali, The Pursuit of Happyness, Bad Boys for Life) stars as Richard, under the direction of Reinaldo Marcus Green (Monsters and Men). Driven by a clear vision of their future and using unconventional methods, Richard has a plan that will take Venus and Serena Williams from the streets of Compton, California to the global stage as legendary icons. The profoundly moving film shows the power of family, perseverance and unwavering belief as a means to achieve the impossible and impact the world.

★★★★★ ‘

★★★★ ‘
Tom Stoppard delivers an unforgettable play from the heart’ Telegraph
★★★★ ‘
Devastatingly moving’ Jewish Chronicle

Regarded as ‘Britain’s greatest living playwright’ (Times), Tony and Academy Award-winner Tom Stoppard’s critically acclaimed new play
Leopoldstadt is a passionate drama of love, family and endurance. At the beginning of the 20th century, Leopoldstadt was the old, crowded Jewish quarter in Vienna, Austria. But Hermann Merz, a factory owner and baptised Jew now married to Catholic Gretl, has moved up in the world.

We follow his family’s story across half a century, passing through the convulsions of war, revolution, impoverishment, annexation by Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. A company of 40 actors represent each generation of the family in this epic, but intimate play.

Filmed live on stage in London’s West End, this live performance on screen should not be missed.

THE BEATLES GET BACK - THE ROOFTOP CONCERT

Directed by three-time Oscar®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (
The Lord of the Rings trilogy), The Beatles: Get Back: The Rooftop Concert takes audiences back in time to the famous last live show, which they performed on the rooftop of Apple Corps' Savile Row headquarters on 30th January 1969, screening in a special one hour feature utilising footage restored for the docuseries The Beatles: Get Back that has now been optimised for the big screen in one 64 minute concert film.

The docuseries
The Beatles: Get Back is compiled from nearly 60 hours of unseen footage shot over 21 days, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg in 1969, and from more than 150 hours of unheard audio, most of which has been locked in a vault for over half a century. Jackson is the only person in 50 years to have been given access to this Beatles treasure trove, all of which has now been brilliantly restored. What emerges is an unbelievably intimate portrait of The Beatles, showing how, with their backs against the wall, they could still rely on their friendship, good humour, and creative genius. While plans derail and relationships are put to the test, some of the world’s most iconic songs are composed and performed. The docuseries, and now this special Big Screen version features – for the first time in its entirety – The Beatles’ last live performance as a group, the unforgettable rooftop concert on London’s Savile Row.

Join us at Cowra Civic Centre for a cuppa, a scone and great live music.

Landscapes & Kitchen Tables is a musical celebration of home, of the vast landscape that surrounds us, of our lives and the moments shared around the kitchen table.
