Canadian Ag Day is February 22
This day has become popular on social media in Canada with the hashtag #CdnAgDay trending for the last few years.
Canadian Ag Day is an opportunity to connect with other Canadians to share about our industry and help people learn where their food comes from. This day gives consumers and producers a chance to have conversations about why agriculture is so important and how the products people use travel from the farm to their hands.
Share your love of Canadian agriculture
Go on social media to celebrate Canadian Ag Day! There are many ways that we can all show support on February 22:
- Post photos, videos, or stories on social media with the hashtag #CdnAgDay.
- Share what Canadian agriculture means to you including your family history in the industry, and how you are celebrating.
- Post a picture of the beautiful countryside that surrounds you.
- Share a little insight about the daily responsibilities bison producers have around the farm. Being a farmer is hard work.
- Post recipes, pictures or videos of you making or enjoying Canadian food or beverages. Who doesn’t love great food?
- Download graphics from the Canadian Ag Day website and share them in your social media.

From Overworked Land To Wildlife Sanctuary: Ted Turner's Vermejo Ranch Strives For Sustainability
Earth Touch News Network / Amy Mathews Amos
When media mogul Ted Turner bought the Vermejo Ranch in 1996 it was damaged goods. In the 155 years since the first Mexican land grant to settlers, Vermejo had been worked hard. Farming, overgrazing, logging, and extensive coal mining had taken their toll.
But the ranch was also huge: one of the biggest (if not the biggest) ranches in the United States, spanning 580,000 acres - almost the size of a small state. Tucked away in a remote corner of northern New Mexico, this vast piece of land had potential.
Ted (as he likes to be called) is known today as a passionate conservationist who puts his considerable money where his mouth is. He owns 15 ranches in the United States, plus three in Argentina, managed largely for conservation and restoration of native species. He created the Turner Foundation, which provides grants to organizations working to protect and restore natural systems, and the Turner Endangered Species Fund whose motto is “Save Everything.”
At Vermejo, that conservation ethic has translated over time into a spectacular natural landscape that supports imperiled and endangered species such as American bison, prairie dogs, swift fox, burrowing owl, and Rio Grande cutthroat trout, plus the usual charismatic mix of New Mexican wildlife: elk, mule deer, pronghorn, mountain lion, black bear, and more. Its diverse habitats – from shortgrass prairie at the lower elevations to conifer forests on the mountain slopes to treeless alpine peaks – now show few signs of past abuse. Read More HERE

Western Montana Ranch Launches Costco-Exclusive Bison Product
KPAX / Geneva Zoltek
CAMAS PRAIRIE — A Montana bison ranch is reaching a new leg of success with the launch of a new product.
A new product from Roam Free Ranch hit the shelves at regional Costcos earlier this month.
Leave behind the city of Missoula and head north towards Highway 200, and watch that landscape become ranchland — an area that hasn’t changed much in some time.
That's where you will find this ranch in Camas Prairie, where bison, the national mammal, are raised by Brittany Masters and Job Sepp.
“It's really an American venture to be a part of raising bison, I think, for food production," Sepp told MTN News. Read More HERE

Newsweek / Robin Wright
Footage has captured the moment a riled-up bison nearly charged tourists at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.
