WET AND WINDY

THANKS A LOT, EUNICE

No sooner than we are back than we are shut down.  Why does that sound like a vaguely familiar refrain.

Anyway this time it wasn't Omicron but Eunice that has done for us.

The pitch inspection at Shanganagh (above) was only going to end one way but the Dublin GAA and Dublin LGFA stepped in first to do a blanket ban on matches.

There's always next week...

CAPTAIN MARTHA

Martha Byrne captained the Dublin Ladies to victory in Waterford last weekend.  She retains the armband for the Croke Park outing against Cork tomorrow night.  We stand to be corrected but Martha could be the first Cuala Captain of a Senior Dublin team since Mick Holden back in the early 1980's.

Jess Tobin was outstanding in her debut in Blue and Jennifer Dunne completed a winning trio.  They both retain their starting places tomorrow and Rachel Hartnett is on the bench again after scoring two goals from halfback for DCU against UCD in the O'Connor Cup on Wednesday.  Jennifer Dunne was on the winning team as well.  Busy days for the girls.

No word yet on starters for the lads as part of the double header but best of luck to the Cuala lads on the panel who could be getting ready to come back in and save the day for the Dubs.

KIDS INTERESTS FIRST

THIS IS IMPORTANT

It is a statutory requirement for anyone involved with a team to complete Garda Vetting and Safeguarding every three years.

If yours is out of date you cannot be involved as a manager or with a team in any way.  No exceptions to this and the club are being audited this month to check compliance.

This is simply too important on many levels to be ignored.

There are courses tomorrow, 19th and next week 26th February, and on 5th March in the Cuala Hall.  There is also an online course on 23rd March

Last week's course had nine people which is not enough given the number we know that need to do this straight away.

Contact Ken Fitgerald to get yourself registered.  You cannot be involved with a team unless you are compliant.

FÉILE PRESENTATION ON SUNDAY

Our U15 Boys were due to have started their Football Féile this weekend, about three months earlier than would be normal.  It's an extended competition again this year running all the way through to April.

We are delighted to have three teams competing at different levels in both football and hurling.

Instead of their opening matches on Sunday morning, they'll be presented with their shiny Féile gear in the Cuala Hall.  We'll have pictures next week but thanks in advance to our sponsors Sport for Business, BLG, Professional Development, Raffertyu's Haven Pharmacy and DLA Piper.

U11's IN CROKE PARK

The best of luck to our U11 boys who will be in Croke Park tomorrow night playing on the pitch in between the action from the bigger boys and girls in blue.

This will be a memory that will last forever for the kids, their parents and their mentors.  If you are in them give them a big shout.
