We will meet on Wednesday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss Britt Bennett’s bestselling novel, The Vanishing Half.  For those of you who have not yet had an opportunity to read the book, it is the story of the Vignes twins, light skinned women of color from a small community in Louisiana.  One of the twins, realizes that her life would be much easier, if she passed as a white woman.  In doing so, what does she sacrifice? In truth, few of the characters in this book are what they appear to be.  Here are two articles about the concept of racial “passing.”
