This meeting will be held in the Commissioners’ Chambers of the David R. Sandifer Building, 30 Government Center Drive NE, Bolivia, NC, 28422.
 
Members of the public may observe the meeting in-person or via live video feed online using Zoom. You will need to have Zoom installed on your computer or mobile device prior to joining the webinar; no registration or passcode is required.

  4. Public Comments
    1. Any individual or group who wishes to address the board may make a request to be on the agenda to the Board of Elections Staff.  Public comments should be limited to three to five minutes.
    2. A public comment portal allows those not in attendance during a board meeting to address the board.  Any comments received by the start of a board meeting will be read aloud during the public comment period.  Public Comment Portal Link
  5. Director’s Report
    1. Voter registration stats – January update included in agenda packet
    2. Winnabow Incorporation update – The Board of Elections has provided the organizers with a certification letter (included in agenda packet).
    3. 2022 Election Updates
      1. Candidate filing begins 8 am on Thursday, February 24 and ends at noon on Friday, March 4.
      2. The Court provided the General Assembly until February 18 to submit new maps.  The parties and intervenors also may submit maps.  The trial court will determine which maps will be used by February 23 at noon, and any emergency appeal of its decision must be filed with the NC Supreme Court by February 23 at 5pm.

    1. Polling place relocations
      1. The voting locations that we relocated to West Brunswick High School and South Brunswick High School last year are not workable voting locations while school is in session. 
      2. We acknowledge the challenges with use of the Leland 5th District Community Building on election day; there is no viable alternative at this time.  We will continue to work diligently to address concerns and search for a more amenable location should an alternative become available.
