Looking Back
This year as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Friends of the Winnipeg Public Library we look back at some important milestones in our organization's history.
In 2003 when plans to renovate the Centennial Library began, The Friends were invited to consider opening a gift shop in what was to become The Millennium Library. This photo courtesy of The Winnipeg Foundation was taken on-site after The Friends made the decision to accept the invitation. A contest was held for Friends' members to help with naming what would become the Best of Friends Gift Shop.
The shop opened its doors in 2005 and since then has played a vital role in providing funds for The Friends to support all kinds of important programming at Winnipeg public library branches.
In the photo from the left- Susan Fraser Chair of the Friends in 2004- Maureen Taunton - Director of the Gift Shop- Marjorie Dawson owner of an Osborne Village gift shop and a volunteer who played a vital advisory role in establishing Best of Friends- Arthur Cohen the Winnipeg Public Library liaison to The Friends at the time.

Friends Sponsor Spring Break Programs
The Winnipeg Public Library will provide engaging online program options for various age groups during the school break from March 26 to April 2.
Families and children will be able to sing along with entertainer Aaron Burnett, create puppets inspired by the picture books of Mo Willems, enjoy storytime, make posters, build greenhouses, design machines, plant seeds and participate in a writing workshop with poet Rachel McCrum.
Friends of the Winnipeg Public Library is pleased to be able to provide financial support for this exciting annual program. You can register for the various workshops here.

Annual Meeting
On behalf of the Board of Friends of the Winnipeg Public Library,
