Le Concept - École d'art du Calaisis
///CALAIS///
Gabrielle Harnois-Blouin
March 14th to April 22nd, 2022

Le Concept - École d'art du Calaisis will host the sound artist Gabrielle Harnois-Blouin in Calais (FR) as part of a cultural action/mediation residency, from March 14 to April 29, 2022. This residency aims to promote the creation of exchanges and good practices in terms of digital mediation and cultural action established in the territory, while developing a policy of international openness focused on francophonie. The artist will multiply the exchanges "outside the walls" in particular by giving workshops to various audiences, and time to raise awareness of her practice. Managed by the Grand Calais Terres & Mers conurbation, Le Concept is an artistic teaching establishment known for "amateur practices". The school welcomes around 650 students from the age of 4 for initiation and support purposes, in addition to developing numerous actions to disseminate and welcome artists in residencies, focusing on supporting young creation.

Gabrielle HB is a sound artist working between the unceded territories of Tiohtià:ke and Nitaskinan. She uses voice, text, synthesizers and in situ recording as her main materials, oscillating between free improvisation and slow composition. Through her projects and daily life, she seeks ways to access more slowness, subtlety and care. She studied digital music at the University of Montreal (2018) and holds a master's degree in sound arts from the London College of Communications (2021). She is part of the duo Désert Mauve (Charline Dally), which offers a soft audiovisual synthesis, as well as Jardin (Florence Garneau), a set of ambient and minimalist new music.
