SkyDeck to host two more info sessions for prospective founders

Berkeley SkyDeck has two upcoming info sessions for startups interested in applying to SkyDeck's Batch 14 Program. The two remaining info sessions are on February 16th (register here) and February 17th (register here). 

SkyDeck welcomes new Innovation Program Manager, Ekin Gunaysu
SkyDeck is excited to welcome Ekin Gunaysu as the latest member to join the team. Ekin joined as the new Innovation Program Manager on January 31st.  A former tennis professional turned certified project manager, Ekin most recently worked in project management at Edelman and Ubisoft. With a passion for human rights and climate change, Ekin has also worked on a number of humanitarian projects and at two think tanks.

Empowerly (Batch 9 Cohort) raised $10 million in their latest round from Goodwater Capital and FJ Labs, bringing total funding to $12 million.

Vyrill
Vyrill (Batch 4 Cohort) closed a $3M seed round of funding led by Noemis Ventures, LightShip Capital, Nurture Ventures with participation by angel investors, including head of engineering at google shopping, ex-head of payments at Apple, SVP of e-commerce at Salesforce and many more.
GenomeUp
GenomeUp (Batch 9 IPP) is a healthtech startup that offers an ecosystem of AI-powered solutions for genetic analysis and clinical decision support for diseases, and has just raised $1.3 million for its seed round led by Lumen Ventures! The capital raised will help GenomeUp support clinical decision-making for hospitals, laboratories, research centers, and pharmaceuticals to accelerate diagnosis times, improve patient care and provide knowledge for health prevention, all in less than 24h.
Organos
Organos (Batch 10 cohort) has been awarded a $1.1M TRANS4 grant from the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM). This translational project will allow Organos to scale its innovative stem cell-based microtissue technology to enable high throughput drug discovery, with particular emphasis on building systems that test drug efficacy across the diversity in the California community.

Lioness' (Batch 1 Cohort) latest product, the Lioness Vibrator 2.0 was recently named in Popular Science's "The 100 Greatest Innovations" under the Personal Care category.
Orbillion
Orbillion Bio (Batch 11 Pad-13) joins the UC Davis National Science Foundation Growing Convergence Cultivated Meat Research External Advisory Board (EAB) for 2022.
As a leader in the cell-cultured meat industry, Orbillion Bio is working closely with the top faculty researchers to build the foundation of academic cultivated meat research at UC Davis. The EAB will forward and assess the work UC Davis is doing in establishing cell lines, developing and refining serum free media, examining nutrition/shelf life/sensory qualities, building scalable scaffolds/microcarriers, examining techno-economic feasibility/sustainability, and developing scalable bioprocessing.

 
Wonderfil
Wonderfil (Batch 13 Cohort) installed their first smart refill station at UC Berkeley last week. They partnered up with the ASUC, Cal's first zero waste store, and top natural soap brands - Dr. Bronner's and EO - to offer refills to students. Berkeley is partnering with Wonderfil to help achieve the campus-wide goal of eliminating all non-essential single-use plastics from campus by 2030.
