Apply now for the NSW Office of Sport Grassroots Sport Fund

Swimming NSW is pleased to advise that applications for the Grassroots Sport Fund are now open and eligible clubs and area associations are encouraged to apply.

The Grassroots Sport Fund is part of the NSW Government’s Community Sport Recovery Package, providing a one-off grant of up to $1,000 for clubs and associations to help the sporting sector and club communities recoup funds lost to COVID-19. 

Swimming NSW, with support from the Office of Sport, will be responsible for administering the grant to its eligible affiliated clubs.

Eligibility

The following are core eligibility criteria for clubs, associations and organsations, who must:
  • be affiliated prior to 23 October 2021 with Swimming NSW
  • be a legal entity whose primary purpose is to organise sporting activities / deliver sport programs;
  • be registered or have a registered business address in NSW;
  • have registered members and participants;
  • offer programs to the public (pertains to schools); and
  • use the payment for an approved purpose

What can you use the funds for?

1. To mitigate fixed costs that may have been incurred by clubs and associations during the period where they were not able to operate normally as a result of COVID-19 stay at home restrictions; and/or

2. To compensate for irrecoverable costs arising directly from the cancellation or postponement of events from 26 June 2021; and/or

3. To assist with costs associated with a return to sport.

Eligible clubs and associations that receive this funding WILL NOT be required to provide documentary proof of these impacts but will be required to maintain records which show how the funds were used and provide those records, if requested by the Office of Sport as part of its audit process.

Examples include:
Fixed Costs - inusrances, power, phone and internet, fixed vehicle or equipment costs, other base operating costs

Irrecoverable costs - loss of perishable goods, booking/cancellations that were not refunded, uniforms purchased for the 2020/21 season that are unable to be used for future seasons

Return to sport costs - marketing and communication expenses for the current or upcoming season, essential equipment (including sport equipment and equipment required to implement COVID-19 Safety Plans), uniforms for the current or upcoming season
