SUMMIT OUNTY TRAVELING EXHIBIT AT THE KAMAS LIBRARY NOW-FEB. 27TH

As the new curator for the Summit County Traveling Exhibit, I chose these pieces from the Summit County art collection because they initially stood out to me during my first walk through at the Coalville Courthouse where the collection permanently lives. The included pieces individually captivated my attention and called me to look closer or think harder at what exactly I was looking at. Read more here.

UTAH DABC EAST
SANDY PUBLIC ART

Sandy, UT

The Utah Public Art Program of the Division of Arts and Museums, in association with the Division of Facilities and Construction Management and the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, is seeking artists interested in creating site specific or existing art for a new DABC in east Sandy, Utah. HISTORIC MURAL IN HOYTSVILLE

Deadline: Feb. 20
Request For Qualifications 

Hoytsville, UT

The Summit County Public Art Advisory Board (“SCPAAB”) is seeking qualified artists to execute a highly creative two-dimensional mural artwork to be installed on the exterior of the Public Works Building in Hoytsville. The surface material of the building is concrete and brick, and the design should cover at least one-third of the 364’x11’ wall (approximately 121’x11’), with some flexibility based on concept design after community interviews and mural design development. ARTSY SHARK

Call for Submissions

International 

Submission are now open to become a featured artist for Artsy Shark. Artsy Shark needs 48 artists to feature and promote in the coming months. As a featured artist, your artwork will be showcased and promoted through an individual portfolio article that is all about you. Features are read by thousands of readers who visit this site each month. A prominent link in your article pushes traffic to your artist website, giving you a chance to share more of your art, make sales, and collect email addresses of interested visitors. Artists are selected through a competitive juried process. LIFE ON STATE

Deadline: Mar. 11
Request for Proposals 

Salt Lake City, UT

The Salt Lake City Arts Council has an opportunity for artists and artist-led teams to submit up to two designs for two designs for the Life on State public opportunity. The public art project for Life on State will feature eight artist designs that will be adapted into a 4-foot in diameter neon artwork, positioned 10 feet in the air atop a steel support pipe. Commission budget is $1500 per commission, 8 available commissions. Apply here. 

 

NEW VISIONARY MAGAZINE

Call for Art 

Virtual/Online

Submissions are now open for issue 2 of New Visionary Magazine. This is an open call with no specific theme, and they are looking for diverse artwork to feature. Must be 18+ to submit. They accept submissions from artists of all backgrounds, gender and experience levels. New Visionary Magazine is a publication centered around contemporary art & education. They encourage artists from around the world to submit their work. Learn more and apply here.


POETRY OUT LOUD

Call for Participants

Virtual/Online

The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation have partnered with the Utah Arts & Museums Arts Education Program to support Poetry Out Loud, which encourages Utah’s youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance. Registration is open for Poetry Out Loud, a poetry recitation contest for all 9th-grade through 12th-grade students.  Learn more and apply at the link above. Grants/Fellowships

SUSTAINABLE ARTS FOUNDATION AWARD

Deadline: Feb. 25
Grant

The Sustainable Arts Foundation supports artists and writers with children. They make annual unrestricted cash awards to individuals and they also support artist residencies in their efforts to make their programs more family-friendly. Artists and writers with at least one child under the age of 18 and a strong portfolio of polished work are welcome to apply. $5,000 each will go to twenty artists and writers with children.


PROJECT SUPPORT GRANT // FOLK ART 

Deadline: Feb. 28
Scholarship

Folk Arts Apprenticeships support master folk artists to work with an apprentice to share and preserve a traditional skill or art form. Funds up to $3,000. If awarded, all funds will go to the master artist. Master folk artists/tradition bearers who are recognized within their community can apply. Master folk artists cannot apply for or receive more than one scholarship award in a fiscal year. Learn more here. 

EMERGING LEADERSHIP FELLOWSHIP

Fellowship 

The Salt Lake City Arts Council has received funding from the Utah Division of Arts & Museums to participate in its newly developed Emerging Leader Fellowship program. Through this generous funding, The Salt Lake City Arts Council is looking to bring an aspiring artist and/or art administrator that identifies as Black, Indigenous, or as a Person of Color to work with their team for a period of 12 weeks (March to June). The programmatic goals of this fellowship include: connecting BIPOC leaders with an interest in developing a career in the cultural sector with mentors in the field, supporting professional development, and strengthening the cultural sector through increased engagement from emerging BIPOC leaders.

PERFORMING ARTS FELLOWSHIP | DANCE

Deadline: Mar. 7
Fellowship

The 2022 Performing Arts Fellowship Program will focus on theater, and will award six $5,000 fellowships to individual artists. Performing arts disciplines rotate every three years between dance, music, and theatre. Applying artists must demonstrate professionalism in their practice through quality work samples. Artists must be Utah residents not enrolled in any undergraduate degree granting program.

Community Inclusion & Outreach Coordinator 

Park City, UT

The Arts Council is seeking a part-time Community Inclusion & Outreach Coordinator to support the organization’s ongoing operations and growth of our nonprofit while finding intersections in our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility goals. This position will help act as the lead Arts Council programmer for the annual Latino Arts Festival (June 2022), overseeing artist communications and event coordination, and help grow relations with diverse artists and makers with the goal of producing more culturally-informed programs. This role will be to be a significant contributor of vision and leadership, supporting the Arts Council’s strategic plan, and fulfilling our mission.
