A WALL OF THOMPSON GUITARS

We just had great weekend at Wintergrass 2022! So gratifying to meet up with musician and guitar enthusiasts plus see so much live music up close and personal.  Thanks to Oliva and Ryan for coming along and talking to people about what they do at the shop!  Glad they could experience the bluegrass family!
A Wintergrass medley...
A string of short clips from our weekend at the Thompson Suite and from several Wintergrass stages.  We met old friends and new musicians while enjoying all the music around us.  Thanks to the folks that came to the suite and played the guitars we brought to this great Bluegrass Festival.
An Interview with Peter Rowan led by Rob Newson at Wintergrass 2022.  Peter is the consummate storyteller sharing his early days learning to sing and play guitar and telling tales of his time as a bluegrass boy and what he learned from Bill Monroe. This is PART 1 - be on the look out for PART 2 soon.
We appreciate your interest and questions.
We have a variety of Brazilian Rosewood, Madagascar, East Indian and Mahogany plus other tonewoods available.

A Sinker Mahogany Dreadnought adorned with a special Regency Torch made from reconstituted turquoise stone and Mother of Pearl, including matching Old Style Dots.  The black pickguard is a new option and it really works well with a natural top. Using the sinker tonewood makes the mid-tones ring and it's ribbony appearance is created from the minerals and time underwater.  This beautiful guitar was reviewed for the May/June issue of Acoustic Guitar Magazine.
What would a Thompson Newsletter be without some special inlay....We recently wrote a BLOG post about using wood in our inlays and shared some examples. Simon Haycraft has extensive education in design, including wildlife illustration and has a keen interest in all of nature’s nuances. The use of wood, as part of the inlay, has become quite popular as an alternative medium that works together with pearl and stone. Over the past year we have had requests for an owl, lion, fox, coyote, bear and beetle. We have an upcoming wildlife series, in collaboration with The North American Guitar Company, using a variety of woods to represent features of a chosen subject matter, stay tuned...
