Owl Book Group
Friday, February 25 | 10:30am-12pm | Zoom

Join us for a book discussion of Caste by Isabel Wilkerson.

Beyond race, class, or other factors, there is a powerful caste system that influences people's lives and behavior and the nation's fate. Linking the caste systems of America, India, and Nazi Germany, Wilkerson explores eight pillars that underlie caste systems across civilizations, including divine will, bloodlines, stigma, and more. Using riveting stories about people throughout history, she shows the ways that the insidious undertow of caste is experienced every day. Finally, she points forward to ways America can move beyond the artificial and destructive separations of human divisions, toward hope in our common humanity.

Washington County Sheriff's Office Safety Update
Two Sessions: Tuesday, March 8 | 10-11am | Zoom
and Wednesday, March 16 | 6:30-7:30pm | Zoom

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has been hard at work evolving best practices and services to meet the changing needs of those we serve. WCSO leadership would like the opportunity to connect with members of the community to discuss local concerns and safety issues. As part of the Enhanced Sheriff’s Patrol District (ESPD), learn what services you receive and how you can play a role in maintaining Washington County as the safest urban county in Oregon.

Additionally, find out more about the ESPD levy that will be on the upcoming ballot. If passed by voters on May 17, 2022, the proposed measure would continue the five-year ESPD levy that expires in June 2023. The proposed levy would pay for deputies, training, personnel, and equipment to maintain current levels of ESPD services.
