Generous Artwork Donation to the Niagara Falls Public Art Collection by James E. Pay

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The City of Niagara Falls has graciously accepted a donation of two paintings to the Public Art Collection by local artist, and former alderman, James E. Pay. Selections made by the City's Public Art Advisory Task Force (PAATF) include two pieces, Brink of the Horseshoe Falls, Niagara and Niagara Falls, from the American Side, both acrylic on canvas. The announcement coincides with Pay's March 2022 90th birthday celebration.

Mayor of the City of Niagara Falls, Jim Diodati, toured Pay's studio in November 2021 and comments, "What a thrill it was to visit with Jim Pay, artist and former City Alderman. He is a talent and his passion for the beauty of Niagara Falls is evident in his colourful, moving depictions of our famous landscape. Thank you to Jim for his gift of these pieces to the public art collection. It is an honour to have them included."

Through its Public Art Policy, the City of Niagara Falls strives to create vibrant public spaces that reflect the diversity of our community and engage residents and visitors with quality works of art. Artist Biography
Mentored by the late A.J. Casson, the last living member of Canada's famous Group of Seven, and studying under colourist Marjoie Smith, Pay developed his own style of painting in watercolour and acrylic. James is a signature member of the Society of Canadian Artists as well as the United Society of Artists, in the United Kingdom (UK). He has conducted art workshops across the UK and North America.
