A friendly reminder for all our Freyberg Whānau:

What do I do if my child is unwell?

If your child is unwell in any way, please keep them home from school and contact Health line directly on 0800 611 116 for further guidance.

If you child has been requested to undertake a COVID-19 test for any reason, please note the following advice from the Ministry of Health website:

Students are permitted to return to school after receiving a negative COVID-19 test but must be symptom free - i.e. no runny noses or coughs - for a period of 24 hours.

We will continue to operate under a 'zero tolerance' policy for any sickness and will send any learners or staff home immediately if they display any COVID-19 symptoms.

Thanking you in advance for your co-operation in this matter.
A message from Kids Club -
'We would like to let you know that Kids Club will be closed this Friday because of staff shortages. We have 2 staff members who were identified as close contacts earlier this week and although the Ministry of Health has said it is still safe for us to operate, we have been unable to find others to take their place at this time. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we will be back to normal from Monday the 21st.'
School Stationery

All children received stationery lists at the end of last year.  It is crucial for children to get their stationery as soon as possible.

If your child has misplaced their list, please request another from the school office or alternatively email Juliette at admin@freyberg.school.nz should you have any questions.
Next week on Tuesday it is a very special date. It is 22/2/22 or TWOSDAY!
Palindrome days happen when the day’s date can be read the same way backward and forward.
Help us celebrate this interesting date across the school and throughout the curriculum by coming to school for a free rā kākahu kāinga - home clothes day👗👟👖
Come to school dressed to impress - you could wear a tutu, a tunic, or a toupee! Maybe you’d like to be double trouble and twin with a friend! You could even dress like you were 22 years old…or 2 years old! You could wear two of everything - 2 shoes, 2 t-shirts. 2 ties! There’s TWO many options to choose 🤪

Be ready for a day 2 remember ✌🏼
There are things we can do every day to help our kids feel loved and safe.

Things like:

Giving lots of love and affection
Teaching them new things
Giving plenty of praise
Listening and talking to them
Giving your time and attention

If you are raising a child, one of the things you will need most is family, whānau and friends around to give you help and good advice.  Being a parent is something we all learn on the job, so don't be afraid to ask for help!

New Entrant Start Dates

This is a friendly reminder that all new entrant children will start school on the first day of Week 1 & 6 of every term.  School visits will take place on Thursdays in The Grove (Room 3) with Mrs Corlett.  School visits will take place in the 2 weeks prior to your child starting school. Office staff will be in touch approximately 4 weeks prior to your child's birthday to confirm dates.

School Hats Missing

Please can you check that your child's school hat is clearly named.

Office staff are more than happy
to assist with  re naming hats
that are no longer clear to read.

We have many students stating that hats have been misplaced during the day.

If your child has taken someone else's hat home in error please get them to pop it into the school office where it will be returned to the rightful owner.
Freyberg School Uniform

The school expects students to take pride in their uniform and wear it correctly at all times.  If students are not in the correct uniform they are required to have a note from home explaining the reason and this must be handed to the school office prior to the start of school on the day concerned.  T-shirts, singlets and other underwear worn for extra warmth must not be visible.

Please ensure that all uniform items are clearly named.  It certainly makes the return of misplaced items much easier and less stressful on children and staff alike.  Please note that it is compulsary for all students to be wearing the school uniform.

School shoes / sandals / jandals are to be black only.
