Faith in Action Bay Area invites you to support the tremendous work of our Redwood City leaders, as they fight to ensure that all families in their city have healthy and dignified housing.

Our leaders are currently urging the City Council to adopt Platform for Decent and Healthy Housing, which articulates their moral vision of a Redwood City in which all belong and can live peacefully in their homes. The platform would prevent landlord harassment, limit evictions due to renovation, and create a rental relations office to support the rights of tenants and landlords.

This platform is the most recent development in Faith in Action Bay Area leaders' years-long endeavor to ensure that Redwood City families remain safe in their homes. In recent years, our leaders have secured eviction moratoria for families at the city and county level and phone-canvassed all Spanish-speaking voters in the city to inform them of their housing rights and protections. These days, our Redwood City leaders are making their presence felt at council meetings, as they communicate the realities of low-income families in the city and make concrete demands to improve their lives. They are also embarking on a historic, large-scale door-knocking campaign to talk to voters in key districts about their experience with housing.

During the heigh of the pandemic, Carmen made outreach calls to Redwood City renters informing them of their housing rights and options, while operating a daycare center whose clients were often essential workers.

When her mobile home community faced dramatic flooding during rainy periods several years ago, Amelia went from trailer to trailer to talk to neighbors, gather signatures, and demand improvements to the park. Today she organizes low-income families who live in crowded or unsafe conditions or face rent increases or landlord harrassment.

Please Support Our Campaign

  • $50 will cover the monthly bill of a Redwood City leader's wifi tablet, which enables her to participate in virtual meetings.
  • $100 will buy 10 branded t-shirts and tote bags for leaders reaching out to community members about Decent and Healthy Housing.
  • $250 will pay for bilingual interpretation for a two-hour strategy meeting for our Platform for Decent and Healthy Housing.
