Don't miss the registration deadline

If your income year ended on 30 June 2021, don't forget that the deadline to submit your application is Tuesday 3 May 2022.

This deadline has been amended from 20 April 2022 given it falls on a Saturday and the next business day is a public holiday in Queensland the Northern Territory. If you haven’t logged into the customer portal before, step by step instructions can be found on the business.gov.au website.

Get prepared in advance by setting up your customer portal account and granting permission to anyone who will need access.

For help logging on, check out the help and support available at business.gov.au or register for one of our upcoming information sessions.

If you require any assistance it’s best to contact us as soon as possible. We get very busy close to the deadline so the sooner you ask for help, the better.

For help setting up your myGovID or RAM contact the ATO 1300 287 539

For help using the portal contact AusIndustry 13 28 46

Remember, if you need to request an extension of time this must be done before the deadline and can only be requested through the customer portal. For more information on the circumstances in which an extension of time may be granted refer to business.gov.au.

Hints and tips for applying

From July 2021 all applications have been submitted using the new customer portal. We've now processed over 5000 applications this way and have the following tips to share:

  • When completing your application in the customer portal remember to save your work regularly, the portal will not save this automatically
  • Ensure that you select the correct income year before starting your application.
  • You can change the income year for a draft application by deleting the draft application in the portal and beginning a new application for the correct income year.
  • If you have requested an overseas finding, and submit your registration application before the finding is made, include the overseas activities in your application (noting a finding has been requested).
  • There’s no need to vary your application to include advance and overseas finding numbers – they are already in our system.
