WELCOME TO THE EIGHTH EDITION OF
The ECCI Express

Edition Eight  ~ 25 February 2022

Message from the President
Thank you to all who attended the ECCI Christmas Party / Exmouth Business Accelerator program end of year wrap up. It was great to catch up with everyone on a casual basis to celebrate the end of what was a very busy 2021 season. 2021 saw the Chamber celebrate many milestones and firsts, and we look forward to continuing this in 2022.

Regarding the Business Accelerator Program, the total number of attendees to EBAP Workshops in 2021 was 162, and 281 attended Business After Hours and Networking Events.

We will be advertising the full 2022 Business Accelerator Program in the coming weeks which will be available on our website via the online event calendar.

I am always happy to see the Chamber continues to grow, currently with 109 members and counting.

Since the start of last year:
  • Our website has seen over 4,000 new visitors;
  • Our mailing list has grown to nearly 400;
  • Our Facebook page reach has increased by 82%, page visits increased by 27% and new page likes increased by 72%;
We have also launched our ECCI Instagram account to try and reach a new demographic.

We keep a close eye on the Worker Housing ROI to ensure it continues to move forward as quickly as possible. The ROI has now closed and from what we understand there has been much interest shown.
Along with this, the funding provided to Base Marine by the BHP and Santos continues to produce amazing results in training our locals. Scroll down to the News and Updates section to read about the success and future of this program.

A bit of good news for our locals, the Federal Government has finalised the design of the reinsurance pool for cyclone-affected areas. The Government intends to introduce legislation for the reinsurance pool in Parliament this month, with the pool on track for the scheduled 1 July start date. We hope to share what the passed legislation is towards the start of next month.

Furthermore, the Chamber continues to meet and work with the TWA Project Team in regards to the Total Solar Eclipse event. We are working towards identifying ways the chamber can help and find opportunities for businesses and clubs. Scroll down to the Upcoming Events section to RSVP for the info and update after-hours event.

We also currently have several new funding opportunities in the pipeline that we hope to be able to announce and share with you all over the coming months; please keep an eye on our socials and email announcements for further updates.

WA Government's "Be Kind" Campaign

WA Government 'Be Kind' Campaign

& tools to help businesses deal with the new mandates
The WA Government’s ‘Be kind’ campaign went live today.

The campaign reminds Western Australians to be kind to staff when asked to provide proof of vaccination. It raises awareness that proof of vaccination requirements, to keep the WA community safe, are mandated by the government not the business owners or staff who are simply following the rules.

The campaign was developed following feedback from our industry stakeholders to address increased unacceptable behaviour towards staff.

Safe transition stakeholder toolkit now has additional materials for businesses to use. You can access the toolkit via the below link:

We hope to improve and expand initiatives like this in the future.

Exmouth, you are AMAZING!

ECCI Christmas Party
The ECCI team extends a warm thank you to our members, friends, and families for joining us in your Christmas best at  Exmouth Yacht Club for our 2021 Christmas Party; the evening was a well-deserved send-off to a busy 2021 for everyone!

It was a pleasure to change out of office attire and uniforms, and dress in something more festive...

As always, our beautiful Exmouth Gulf put on a show with a stunning sunset and sublime evening weather. With over 60 attendants, it was a great pleasure to enjoy everyone's company in a casual setting, appreciate great food and beverages, and share a few jokes and memories of 2021.

To our dear ECCI member Darlene Allston and her team (Ningaloo Cooking Studio), you have once again outdone yourselves with the delicious catering throughout the evening. Thank you!

We want to also express our gratitude to the Exmouth Yacht Club team for having all hands on deck, accommodating us for the evening, supplying the drinks, and providing us with a warm and festive atmosphere. Take a bow, guys!

Last but not least a big thank you to Woodside for providing some additional funding for this event to allow us to open the invite to everyone who participated in the EBAP throughout the year.

We hope that everyone enjoyed the evening as much as we did, and look forward to sharing many more with our beautiful Exmouth community.

It's fun to be on the YCBT!

Exmouth is well known for its gorges and pristine coast - Yardie Creek Boat Tours have been combining the two for almost a decade

The affordable and low-impact boat tour was established by Boxy (Pete) Maier and Mandy Francis-Maier, who run the business with the help of their passionate tour-guide, bird and wildlife enthusiast, Ash Broinowski.

Give your eyes a break from the intense ocean glare, and enjoy the serenity of the red cliff-faces and dark, cool Yardie Creek water.

Whilst on tour you will often get an opportunity to meet the lazy gaze of an endangered black-footed rock wallaby. If you are a "bird nerd" you will thoroughly enjoy observing some iconic water birds of the north-west - including feeding and nesting Ospreys and Reef Egrets. The tour guide will also acquaint you with the interesting history of Exmouth and the North-West Cape. This tour is suited for visitors and locals alike!

Tours are an affordable $45 per adult and $25 per child (6-15).
Transport to Yardie Creek and Turquoise Bay is also available.
