Using The Moodle Sharing Cart

If you are updating content throughout the semester, you may want to use the Sharing Cart. The Sharing Cart is a block that you add to your Moodle course - visible only to the instructor- that allows you to copy and paste items between Moodle courses. Watch a quick video to see how it works.

We will share web based teaching practices, discover new techniques for web based teaching, and reflect on how we can deepen our web based teaching. To register for the Community of Practice, please do so here by Sunday, February 20.  For questions please contact Meghan Callaghan, mrcallag@bhcc.edu

Webinars offered by AIDE partners

Many of our vendors offer introductory and advanced webinars about their products.  Explore the links below to learn more about each product.  These are unpaid professional development opportunities.

Moodle

Spring 2022 Moodle Course Shells:

  1. Most Spring 2022 Semester Moodle course shells are now available to edit in Moodle. Faculty can access & edit their courses from the Moodle Dashboard. If you do not see your Spring Moodle courses, be sure to check the official start date of the course  in the Self-Service "Course Description."

  2. Most students gain access to their Moodle courses automatically on the first official day of class. Faculty can choose to make their Moodle courses visible to students before the first day. Learn how to “Show your course site” early.

Import Moodle Content From Previous Semesters

Please check out our resources on How to Import Moodle Course Content.

Visit the Moodle Course Management page of the AIDE Resources ePortfolio for information about merging courses, adding ACE mentors, and much more! Contact us at aide@bhcc.edu if you have any questions.

Extend Moodle Access past it’s official end date

If you need a Moodle course site to remain available - because you have students completing an IP, or for any other reason, you can send the AIDE team an email and request extended access for your student(s). Learn how to Request Extended Access to a Moodle Course For Students With an IP.

Outlook Calendar Events

When creating an event in the Outlook Calendar Web App, a Microsoft Teams Meeting link is automatically embedded into the invitation. If you are using another platform to host a virtual meeting, such as Webex, it may be helpful to turn off this option. In this tutorial, you will learn how to turn off Microsoft Teams for events created in the Outlook Calendar Web App. Review our Turning Off Microsoft Teams in the Outlook Calendar Web App document to learn how to disable the feature.

WebEx

Integrate your WebEx Meetings into your Moodle courses

The WebEx Education Connector allows BHCC Faculty & Staff to seamlessly integrate Webex virtual meetings into their Moodle courses. It is an efficient and convenient way to use various WebEx tools without having to add student emails to an invitation list, or requiring them to actively "go" to different sites. Learn more about the integration.

WebEx Webinar (Formerly known as WebEx Events)

The latest update to Webex included adding “Webex Webinars” (formerly Webex Events) to the WebEx dashboard. This feature allows faculty and staff to create WebEx sessions with limited attendee interactions, as well as many of the advanced features you’re familiar with from Webex Meetings.

WebEx Webinar does not have breakout rooms, attendees cannot easily unmute themselves and attendees do not have camera access.

WebEx FAQ's

Q: I can't find the Breakout session for my class meetings set up through the WebEx connector?

A: Breakouts need to be added manually to WebEx connector sessions.

Q: I get the error message, "Your WebEx authorization has expired. Please reauthorize WebEx ", when I try to create my class meetings using the WebEx Connector in Moodle?

A: Please go to your WebEx Connector, sign out of the application, and sign back in to fix the issue.

Q: Why do my students get the access denied error message when joining my class?

A: Students can only join Remote WebEx class sessions as a guest. They will not be able to join if they are "sign-in" or "login."

If you require students to host their WebEx meeting sessions, students can sign in through bhccstudents.webex.com and not bhcc.webex.com to compose their meetings.

Did you know you can access most BHCC apps from the Onelogin Portal?

That's right, you can access your Moodle (referred to as Moonami), Digication ePortfolio, Panopto, and WebEx accounts all from one place. The BHCC Onelogin Portal is a great link to bookmark in your browser. Access the portal now: bhcc.onelogin.com.
