Great River Energy Donation Funds Field Trips to Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan State Historic Site

BISMARCK, N.D. – Great River Energy has given a donation of $10,000 to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center in Washburn to pay admission for students, teachers, and chaperones to experience interpreter-guided tours of the Interpretive Center, Fort Mandan State Historic Site, and a 30-minute educational program. The donation will cover entry fees for all pre-booked, organized field trips for schools, homeschool groups, and children’s clubs such as Scouts or 4-H.

“Since 2017, Great River Energy has generously donated to our site so students of all ages can get an immersive educational experience outside the classroom,” said Site Supervisor Dana Morrison. “Their donation gives students the opportunity to solidify the information they’ve learned in the classroom and have a more tactile experience as an interpreter leads them on tours through our sites.”

The donation covers the admission for the roughly 2,750 annual field trip students and teachers welcomed by the Interpretive Center every April and May. Any remaining amount is used to cover the cost of student admission for the general public.

To book an outside-the-classroom experience at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan, contact Ashli Laducer at 701.462.8535. The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan State Historic Site are managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The Interpretive Center is open Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. through March 31.
