Reasons to Celebrate

Every day, we have reasons to celebrate our guests as they meet goals to overcome their current circumstances. Recently, we celebrated:
  • Angela and her two children moving into their own apartment after several weeks in the Link Program.
  • Tiffany’s new job at her children's daycare.
  • Jaqueline’s job offer from Amazon.
  • Robin’s two months free from abuse and her expectation to receive housing approval for an apartment.
  • Sherri’s apartment for which she plans to sign the lease soon.
  • Shaylee’s 3 months being clean and sober.
  • Emberly starting classes at Vine Maple Place.
  • Samantha’s CEA Assessment to qualify for housing.
  • Tiffany hearing her baby's heartbeat for the first time and learning she's having a baby boy.
  • Shauna cleaning and doing chores in Units 1 to 3 (they look great!).
  • Mavis’ son starting daycare, as well as her 39 days clean and free from abuse.
  • Trena leaving a 5-year abusive relationship.
  • Judith working for a full week.
Congratulations to these ladies and may God continue to bless them as they grow! We appreciate your prayers for hope and courage for our guests to continue to make needed changes, and for perseverance to follow their plan to recovery and a better future.

Will you make a donation today, so that we can continue to help more women like these find housing and hope for a better future?

We LOVE our Volunteers

Pam and Dale Culver have volunteered at KentHOPE almost seven years. Dale drives our guests to shopping in the KentHOPE van. Pam serves as our meal coordinator, assuring that there are three meals a day, 365 days a year for our guests. She works closely with individuals, businesses, churches and community groups to enlist and inform volunteers about our meals process and guidelines. Checkout KentHOPE.org for a variety of ways to volunteer.

Current Needs

  • hot cups
  • paper bowls
  • healthy, individually-wrapped snack choices, such as string cheese, single-serving yogurt, Lunchables, Cup-a-Soup, meat and cheese/cracker snack packs

Your donated items help stretch our resources and let our guests and their children know that they are valued and loved. Current needs change often. Please watch our Facebook page for our updated current needs. Please bring (only) these and Facebook-requested items to the front porch of the KentHOPE Emergency Shelter at 9009 Canyon Drive, Kent 98030. Please ring the bell if you’d like a receipt. All other donations, such as furnishings and clothing, may be taken to the Mission’s Distribution Center.

KentHOPE is Hiring

KentHOPE has reached another all-time high, with 50+ women and children in the building! We're so thankful for the capable and loving team at KentHOPE. Their heart to serve shines through, despite the fact they are currently working at about a 50% full staffing level! If you are interested in joining our team and partnering with God to bring the love of Jesus and hope for a new life to women and children, apply HERE.

New KentHOPE Cafe

The newly opened KentHOPE Cafe provides a community space for guests and volunteers to mingle, and for kids to come for after-school snacks. Located in Apartment #5, the cafe is stocked with healthy snacks and drinks and remains open from 6:30am to 4:30pm every day. Volunteers may sign up to restock snacks and socialize with our guests over a cup of coffee, a puzzle, board games, cards, a movie, and more. If you’re interested in serving in this way, sign up HERE to choose a date and time that works for you.

Your Gift Transforms Lives

KentHOPE is the front line and first point of interaction for women and their children who are coming in from the streets looking for resources, emergency shelter, recovery programs, and long-term housing opportunities. We demonstrate the love of Jesus in tangible ways to our neighbors, and we do so in partnership with many others in our community.

It costs $1,773 per month for one woman to receive the love, care, and practical help to meet her urgent needs through our program. We are currently serving 51 overnight homeless guests per day: 38 women and children in the Enhanced Shelter Program, and 13 women and children in our Link Work and Education Program.

Please consider giving a financial gift today to help us meet our program needs and offer resources to all these women and their children. Thank you and God bless you!
