Dear Prayer Team,
Upon arriving in Germany 9 months ago, I knew I wanted to use dancing not only as a hobby and way to make friends, but also as a personal ministry. My roommate recommended a dance studio, but even after 6 months of attending classes, I had yet to meet anyone that seemed eager to form a deeper friendship. My time here in Germany is short, so I needed to move on quickly if a place wasn’t showing fruit. I emailed the dance studio to cancel my membership and attended one last class.

Fortunately, this class was set up differently than others I had attended. This led me to meeting someone new, “L”. L and I had a ridiculous amount in common, especially considering we grew up on different continents. And a few weeks later, L connected me with a handful of other dancers in the area, ages 13 to 24. Friendships quickly formed and blossomed, and we now meet at least once a week. I once suggested that we celebrate the 4th of July together, and they suggested that we celebrate Friendsgiving as well.

On top of these friendships forming, conversations are beginning to grow deeper with each meeting, and I’m able to meet new people from all over the world every week. I was especially shocked when, upon being late to one of our weekly dance sessions, I was greeted by a bombardment of hugs (quite different from cold German stereotypes)!
This last week, some of us went ice-skating and, afterwards at McDonald’s, talked about what food we thought might be in heaven. Through this conversation, I was able to better gauge where they were at spiritually and was eager to talk with them later in the week. God had other things in mind; however, as I was walking one day and had a sudden pain in my foot, making even walking painful, much less dancing. One week later, and I’m writing this after returning from having x-rays taken.

I’ve told my newfound friends that I’m not sure when I’ll be able to dance again, but they invite me regardless, if anything, to be with them. This means so much to me as it shows they aren’t turned away by the spiritual conversations I’ve had with them. I trust God knowing that if they are to come to Christ, they will. It is simply my responsibility to share and I eagerly wait for my next opportunity to do so!
