MAPS, MAPS, MAPS AND MORE MAPS
Among the most valuable sources of historical information are maps.
1771 map showing Saltaire area
Jefferys 1771 map shows the original Milner Field property, the intended route of the canal, and “New Mill”… not Salt’s New Mill but the now ruined mill by Seven Arches.
Here are the fields of what became Saltaire – and we’re told who owns them! Titus Salt knew these folk
On 3 March, we’ll be knee deep in maps and plans because they are jam-packed with information on local history.

Derek Barker, Jack Hargreaves and Ian Watson - three top map experts - will be with us to relate their cartographic discoveries and to show a selection of their favourites. And the Saltaire Collection will add theirs.

Starts at 7pm on 3 March after the 6.30 AGM.

Put the date in your diary now!

The venue is the Saltaire Methodist Church lounge. The church fronts Saltaire Road BD18 3HJ. The lounge is at the rear.
