Among the most valuable sources of historical information are maps.
Jefferys 1771 map shows the original Milner Field property, the intended route of the canal, and “New Mill”… not Salt’s New Mill but the now ruined mill by Seven Arches.

On 3 March, we’ll be knee deep in maps and plans because they are jam-packed with information on local history.
Derek Barker,Jack Hargreaves and Ian Watson - three top map experts - will be with us to relate their cartographic discoveries and to show a selection of their favourites. And the Saltaire Collection will add theirs.
