Cybersecurity Honors
Cybersecurity students from Summit Technology Academy swept the top three spots in a state CyberPatriot competition in the Platinum Division. The state champs placed 12th in the nation and qualified for the national final round.

Business teacher Perri LaTerza and Algebra I teacher Tori Wilson from Lee’s Summit North High School share how students will grow their skills through hands-on business math scenarios in AMPED on Algebra (Algebra I in Manufacturing Processes, Entrepreneurship and Design). This innovative approach reflects how LSR7 Diploma Plus prepares students for success through real-world experiences.
Our Special Services team has coordinated a community transition night from 6-8 p.m. on March 2 at the Missouri Innovation Campus. The Honors Language Societies at Lee's Summit West High School are hosting a Cultural Festival from 2-4 p.m. on Feb. 19 at the LSW Field House. The event is geared toward LSR7 elementary students to promote bilingualism and language learning. Booths will allow participants to learn about a language and culture through games, crafts, dances and more. Participants are encouraged to bring canned goods to donate to Lee's Summit Social Services.
The Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation will host the 23rd Annual Taste of Lee’s Summit at 6 p.m. on March 5 at The Pavilion at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit (adults 21 and over only). This fundraiser supports educational programs in our community. Advance tickets are required. Donations for live and silent auction items are needed by Feb. 11.
Students and families interested in learning about Summit Technology Academy's nationally recognized, career-focused programs are invited to attend an open house event:
An in-person open house will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Missouri Innovation Campus Event Center (B101). In addition to showcasing Summit Technology Academy, the Feb. 10 event will include a presentation about the Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) program, a partnership involving the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, the University of Central Missouri and Metropolitan Community College as well as community organizations and business partners. An accelerated early college program breakout session will be presented from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. in the event center. This program will focus on the Missouri Innovation Campus program.
Scholarships
LSR7 high school seniors can apply now for scholarships through the Lee's Summit Educational Foundation.
Through generous community donations, the Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation offers thousands of dollars in continuing education scholarships to graduating students at each of our high schools. Last spring, the Foundation awarded $68,500 to 58 seniors.
Scholarship applications are due 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23. Winners will be announced during awards ceremonies at each high school in the spring.
PEAK Grants
LSEF supports LSR7 classrooms each year by providing our educators with PEAK grants.
PEAK Grants are competitive classroom grants that are awarded to teachers annually through an application process. These grants cover a large variety of curricular areas and awards range from $100 to approximately $5,000. Teachers can use access code PEAK to apply online by Feb. 23 at 4:30 p.m. Click the link below and enter the word PEAK into the box in the right-hand corner to access the application.
