Abundant Life
What are you longing for? In Genesis, it talks about the story of Adam and Eve. God gave them so much, but they chose to focus more on the one thing they couldn’t have rather than enjoy all that they did. They believed they were lacking, feeling as if they were missing out. They doubted God’s goodness and provision. This cost them everything. They traded intimacy with the father for temporary pleasure. How often do we fix our eyes on our supposed lack? On what we wish we had? Forgetting all the beauty around us, forgetting that God has already done more than enough for us, and he doesn’t owe us anything.
Be faithful and present where God has you. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side, so open your eyes to the abundance around you. When Satan says look over here, his motive is always to steal, kill, and destroy you. We get to choose what we turn our ears to listen to. So when the enemy attempts to steal our joy, kill our gratitude, or destroy our identity his motive is to distance us from God. When Jesus says no, or wait, or I have this for you instead, his motive is always to give you abundant life.
So whose voice are you choosing to listen to? The Lord knows what you long for. He hears your every sigh. He’s not punishing you, he hasn’t forgotten about you, and you are not overlooked. His plans for you are good. Turn your eyes toward Jesus today. Don’t be distracted and don’t be deceived. Don’t miss out on the abundant life all around you. There is purpose. There is beauty. It’s up to you, to enjoy it or not. “You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh.”
