Welcome to 2022!

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy new year.

I would also like to extend a special welcome to the many families who have joined our Freyberg whānau this year for the first time. And, a huge thank you to our community for being so supportive of the different protocols we temporarily have in place to help keep our tamariki safe. We really do appreciate you all so much.

If at any time you have a query or are unsure of something that is happening at school, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher, our office staff Juliette/Sharon/Rachael, our senior managers Emma-lea Graaf, Matt Allely or myself. I am available at any time to answer any concerns. It is important to us that you and your family are happy at school.

School Stationery

All children received stationery lists at the end of last year. It is crucial for children to get their stationery as soon as possible, preferably by the end of this week i.e. 11th February.

If your child has misplaced their list, please request another from the school office or alternatively email Juliette at admin@freyberg.school.nz should you have any questions.

An Important Messages for all Parents/Caregivers

A friendly reminder...if your children are involved in an incident at school, please do not approach the parents of other children involved to discuss it. It would be appreciated if you could instead talk directly to the classroom teacher as they will have all of the correct information and will be able to help you, or direct you to a staff member who can. Thank you!

Term 3
Monday 25th July - Friday 30th September
Teacher Only Day - Monday 29th August TBC

Term 4
Monday 17th October - Tuesday 13th December

New Entrant Start Dates

This is a friendly reminder that all new entrant children will start school on the first day of Week 1 & 6 of every term. School visits will take place on Thursdays in The Grove (Room 3) with Mrs Corlett. School visits will take place in the 2 weeks prior to your child starting school. Office staff will be in touch approximately 4 weeks prior to your child's birthday to confirm dates.

No Sunhat - Play in the Shade

During term 1 and 4, any child not having a sunhat will be directed to shaded areas at playtimes, lunchtimes and during outdoor activities. In the last month or two, the heat of the sun and associated burn factor has increased noticeably.

Please support us to help keep your child safe by making sure that your child has a named school sunhat that can be left at school to be used for outdoor activities.

School bucket hats can be purchased from the school office at a cost of $18.00.

Freyberg School Uniform

The school expects students to take pride in their uniform and wear it correctly at all times.  If students are not in the correct uniform they are required to have a note from home explaining the reason and this must be handed to the school office prior to the start of school on the day concerned.  T-shirts, singlets and other underwear worn for extra warmth must not be visible.

Please ensure that all uniform items are clearly named.  It certainly makes the return of misplaced items much easier and less stressful on children and staff alike.  Please note that it is compulsary for all students to be wearing the school uniform.

School shoes / sandals / jandals are to be black only.
