PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”      -Anatole France

Greetings LHS Families,

This past Wednesday evening, we had a truly fantastic PTO meeting.

I want to thank the PTO Board for showcasing the school at this event. It was a giant step in our renewed effort to promote the wonderful things that define who we are. The progress reports given by our teachers and students at the PTO meeting were positive, informative, and spoken from the heart. They were a validation of our excellence. I also want to express my gratitude for the guidance of Bonnie Koch in her new role as church council president. What I clearly heard her say is that we shall proceed forward with grace and dignity as a community. Her poignant words and clear leadership have already gone a long way toward assuaging the fears that come with change. With these trying times will come solutions that could be as complex as the issues, themselves. Fortunately, whatever comes next in our journey, we will always be grounded in our mission to serve kids.

Leaders of this organization will be successful if we are committed to removing barriers that impede progress. The organization will thrive if each member of the community pulls together in the same direction. If we do not, we will be unable to prevent the listing of our ship from turning into a capsize. Long before my tenure at Laurel Hall School, Emmanuel Lutheran experienced events that necessitated periods of healing. Once again, we find ourselves at a place in which nothing is more critical than building trust and re-establishing human connections that have been fractured. I am confident that we will lead with dignity and grace, and that our community will pull together in a way that will allow us to heal even stronger than ever.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Best,

Jay
