Dear Valencia Families,
Just a few important dates and announcements for you:
Parents...Did you know that February is Black History Month? Teachers will be sharing examples of African American EXCELLENCE with our students throughout the month and encourage you to discuss impressive individuals at home as well. Think of scientists, mathematicians, writers, and more who might be important to highlight during this very special month.

NO SCHOOL: NEXT MONDAY, February 14TH in observance of Lincoln's birthday!
Spring Auction Cancelled.
Every year, we look forward to connecting with Valencia Seastar families at our annual Spring Auction, raising funds to support our students. Although we had hoped to bring back the in-person event in 2022, given the continuing concerns around COVID-19 and financial feasibility, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person component of the Spring Auction. We are looking at other fundraising avenues and will communicate all available opportunities as they are decided.
As always, donations to our Home & School Club (https://homeandschoolclub.org/) are welcome at any time.
Schedule Update for the Postponed December 29th Santa Cruz Warriors Game
All tickets held for the originally scheduled game on December 29 against the Sioux Falls Skyforce will be honored on Monday, February 28. The first 1,000 fans in attendance at the game will receive a custom t-shirt, courtesy of Something Inked. In December, the Warriors held a t-shirt design contest amongst Sea Dub fans and people voted on the best design via social media. A shirt created by local designer, Justin E, won the fan vote and will be distributed at the doors on February 28. The game will be played at Kaiser Permanente Arena with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. PST.
Fans with tickets from the postponed game will be able to use the same ticket to the game listed above and will have the same seats as originally possessed. Any physical tickets will be valid at the new date despite the tickets showing the December date.
For any questions, please contact Joanna Dang at communications@homeandschoolclub.org
You may have heard that Santa Cruz and Monterey counties joined 10 Bay Area counties announcing they would lift their indoor mask mandates on Feb. 16. Please note that under state orders, masks are still required in indoor settings for:
- Unvaccinated persons
- K-12 schools/child care
- Public transportation
- Health care settings
- Congregate settings
When student(s) return to Valencia after following protocol guidelines from a positive COVID test result, please have them check in at our office to pick up an ALL CLEAR PASS to give to the teacher. This will let the teacher know the student is now safe to return to class.
COVID-19 Symptom Positive Test Result or Exposure Protocol - The process has been updated to show a change from 10 to 5 days of quarantine under certain vaccination status scenarios. Here is the chart for your reference. PVUSD continues to follow CDHP guidelines in these processes. Also, we can now accept home tests as a confirmation of a positive result for noticing exposed classrooms. We do, still need an official negative test result for a return to school.
The Main Office is open daily from 7:30-4pm. If you need to make special arrangements, please call 831-728-7836. Thank you.
