Do More 24 Is Only 2 Weeks Away..!

What is Do More 24?
Do More 24 is a Statewide 24 hour day of giving designed to help nonprofits raise funds & engage new donors. 100s of Delaware nonprofits participate each year, making this one of the largest single days of giving of the year!

Who Hosts/Organizes Do More 24?
Do More 24 is hosted by the United Way of Delaware and Spur Impact.

Date & Time
March 3rd at 6pm and ends on March 4th at 6pm. Donations can be made any time from now, 1/28/2022, until March 4th. Any donation we receive from now, until March 4th at 6pm, will be matched!

Why Donate?
Life continues to remain difficult for many families in Delaware. As vaccines and boosters are rolled out, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, however, many of Delaware’s families are still struggling. Unemployment remains high and affordable housing remains scarce. The pandemic has exacerbated a crisis of affordable housing in Delaware. As a result, the cost to house families has risen quite substantially.  Families need us, they need you, and this is the perfect opportunity to help.

Nolan Witman

Nolan Witman meant many things to everyone that had the privilege and opportunity to meet, talk, or even hear about how amazing of a young man Nolan was. He lived his life to the fullest and wore his heart on his sleeve every second of every day. His loving mother, Wendy, and older brother, Henry, always supported him. One of Nolan’s favorite things to do was to serve with his local church, “One in Christ Community Church,” in Hockessin, Delaware. The highlight for Nolan was to help when it was Family Promise Weekend. He loved coming alongside the families that Family Promise serves. He would spend his whole time playing with the children of the families. He wanted to make sure that none of them ever felt alone or left out in any way. The “Family Promise” family will miss Nolan, and we honor him as he honored us.

Nolan displayed his tremendous kindness by being a bright light for all those who needed help, guidance, or even just being there to talk. He was someone who you could turn to whenever you needed him and would never turn down those in need of help. Nolan had a talent for finding and reaching out to anyone struggling; no matter who or when he was always there for you. His kindness was on full display when taking care of his family and household. Nolan made it his job and passion for caring for his mother through any amount of hardship or adversity. Without thinking of a mature, selfless, and helpful son, you could not think of Nolan. He always strived to be the head of the household and prioritized keeping his family together, no matter the circumstances.

Nolan was the most optimistic person towards any situation. He truly believed he could accomplish and overcome the most testing obstacles possible- even if these obstacles included jumping into a cold fountain at a mini-golf place because of a dare. You could never deter Nolan from any challenge he ever faced because he genuinely believed he could do it. Except when it came to a ski trip with his friends. Nolan faced his fear of heights as best as he could. His closest friends would shake the gondola while Nolan was with them, waiting for his reaction. Even though one of Nolan’s biggest fears, he found enjoyment in the trip and once again showed those around him how his character overcame any fear put in front of him.

Nolan’s tragedy has taken a heavy toll on many, but none more than his mother, Wendy. Wendy has and will continue to be a strong role model for her sons and is personally one of the strongest people we know. We need your help to reach out and help the Witman family get through this tough time. Your help during these trying times is appreciated more than you will ever know. Thank you for all the support.

Annual DE Point In Time Count Is Coming Up
The PIT Count will be conducted on the night of February 23rd and the morning of February 24th

Excerpt from 2021 Report Below

"In a year that produced many shocking outcomes, perhaps the most shocking was a 35% increase in homelessness on the night of the Point in Time Count (PIT) in January 2021. This increase is attributed largely to growth in homelessness among families with children, and should make Delaware stand up and demand a solution to the real and present housing crisis facing our communities."
