Senior Center Update
News You Can Use

The Senior Center has a new friendly face at our front desk on Tuesdays and Thursdays! We are partnering with the North Olmsted High School through their “Social Involvement Through Education and Service” (SITES) program and are lucky to have high school senior, Morgan, with us through May. Please introduce yourself if you see Morgan on one of your visits to our center. She will be helping with Senior Center programming until the end of the school year.

As a reminder, the Senior Center will be closed on February 21 in observance of Presidents’ Day.

Catch up with Senior Center members and activities from the past month by clicking here. We’ve been having a lot of fun and hope you can join us soon!

The North Olmsted Police Station has a medication drop box available for safe disposable of unused medications. Proper disposal of unused prescription drugs reduces the risk of accidental poisoning. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, medicines are the most common poison exposure category in the U.S. Learn more here.

Senior Spotlight

This month we shine a spotlight on Ed A., a newer North Olmsted Senior Center member! Ed grew up in Parma, served in the Korean War and then worked in sales for 50 years before retiring. Ed has a variety of hobbies and interests, and specifically loves playing cards! Ed is willing to teach you a number of different card games if you’re interested! Click here to read Ed’s interview with our Outreach Coordinator, Mike Kovack.

Nature Pam
Save the date for Nature Pam’s rescheduled program on Thursday, March 10 at 12:30 in the Cabin after hot lunch:

Nature Pam – March 10
Welcome back National Parks extraordinaire Pam Sikora for a program on Sleeping Bear Dunes. Learn about the sandy shores and shipwrecks of Sleeping Bear as Pam shares her beautiful photographs of this National Park. Michigan has the largest collection of freshwater dunes in the world. Find out why the Sleeping Bear Dunes are different from so many others. Then peer into the depths for a closer look at the danger of shipping on the Great Lakes. The lakes are called Great and so are their storms.
