Do Something Brilliant Today - our new film showcasing u3a members learning new skills, laughing together and living life to the full

Dear <<First Name>>

I'm delighted to share our new u3a film with you.

This film is a tribute to the dynamic and vibrant things happening at u3as all the time. It was lovely to hear in the film the positive impact that u3a has had on members, which is representative of the communities in local u3as all across the movement.

I hope you enjoy this film - and please share with members and friends so that we can share the message of u3a members learning, living and laughing together.

very best

Sam Mauger,
Chief Executive

Your Music Tastes

Thank you so much to the many members who responded to our survey on music tastes which we shared in the last newsletter.

This survey is one of a suite of surveys examining hidden negative preconceptions around age and showcasing positive living. It revealed that the majority of you who took part feel that age is not a factor in the music you love, and many of you shared great examples of how music is an effective way for generations to connect with each other.

On this occasion the questions were focussed mainly on popular music to appeal to the media in the run up to the Brit Awards - and to help us raise the profile of the u3a movement  We fully accept that the survey did not represent the full breadth of music genres and apologise for any confusion this might have caused.

We will make sure that in future surveys, the purpose is made very clear when asking you to complete them.

CEO Sam Mauger and Trustees spoke on local radio about the results and the way that u3a members are living their best lives and showcasing positive attitudes to age.  Here's one example: Watch Sam on London Live -time stamp 16.32

Read more about the results of the survey on our website, and read about the music that members love on our Sources blog.

Join the “The Wisdom Hour”, a creative storytelling space celebrating positive stories of ageing, facilitated by This Age Thing and Design Age Institute for a special session on designing an age-inclusive bank with designer Roseanne Wakely, designer-in-residence for the Design Age Institute.

In this interactive workshop, which will take place at the Design Museum, share your knowledge and experiences of banking, the types of products, services and security you want from a bank. All are encouraged to contribute with stories and ideas to help reimagine financial services to support our future selves.

This is part of an ongoing relationship between u3a and the Design Age Institute, and we hope to hold a Wisdom Hour session in Newcastle in the future.
