Scripture of the Week

Hebrews 12:26-29 TPT

26The earth was rocked at the sound of his voice from the mountain, but now he has promised,
“Once and for all I will not only shake the systems of the world,
but also the unseen powers in the heavenly realm!”
27Now this phrase “once and for all” clearly indicates the final removal of things that are shaking, that is, the old order,  so only what is unshakable will remain. 28Since we are receiving our rights  to an unshakable kingdom  we should be extremely thankful and offer God the purest worship that delights his heart  as we lay down our lives in absolute surrender, filled with awe.  29For our God is a holy, devouring fire!

Weekly Encouragement

Embrace the Shaking

God is in the season of shaking.  I don’t know many people who are not in the process of seeing things in their lives change and move.  God is working all things together for good, so we can be confident that as things are shaken, God will get the glory.

One of the greatest thrills for me as a believer is to discover what God is doing after being confused or disoriented about something happening in our lives.  I think heaven will be filled with a lot of “AHA!” moments and shouts of joy.  For us here, we must get our eyes on the kingdom, instead of the situations that are creating confusion, doubt, and disorientation.

The truth of God’s will for all of us is to trust Him, humble ourselves, and let Him mold us and shape us.  As God shakes things, we must not point the finger, believe the worst, or use “wisdom and prudence” as an excuse for choosing what is right in our own eyes.  The joy of where we are in this season of shaking is found in our letting go of outcomes and trusting in His presence ministering to us and through us.

My prayer for this season is that we would all come to know Christ and the power of His resurrection. That we would encounter His love and power in greater measure.  As things shake, that we would run to the Father, trust in the Son, and live empowered by the Spirit.  Join me in seeking the Lord’s will in the shaking so we can encounter the Love of God, and we are left on solid ground in Christ.

Prayer Needs and Updates:

  • Pray for our mission organizations, their families, and their provision.  Celebrate Recovery Nicaragua, Freedom House, Helping Hands Healing Hearts, Idahope Families.
  • Pray for those called to serve in this season with Youth and Kids Ministries.  We are praying for those that have a burden for the youth and a willingness to serve them.
  • Pray for those called to Leadership at HVWC.  We believe that God is raising up mighty men and women of God who will lead others in their pursuit of God.  We know that God is expanding our influence, and those who desire to play a part in the body through leadership should know they are called to it in this season.
