DR MAVELA IS NOMINATED FOR THE NATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FORUM (NSTF) AWARDS

Recognised for her outstanding contribution to science, engineering and technology at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) and South Africa, Dr Nokuthula Mavela has been nominated for the National Science and Technology Forum (NSTF) Awards.

Dr Mavela works in the Student Support Development Unit under the Centre for Excellence in Learning at Teaching (CELT) at the DUT and is also pursuing her PhD in Health Sciences under the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University.

DANISA URGES ENTREPRENEURS TO NEVER GIVE UP ON THEIR DREAMS

“Never give up in your dreams, no matter how long it takes or how hard it is just follow them,” said entrepreneur Thabisile Mashangase Danisa.

The dynamic lass is the successful Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Incasa Foods since 2015. Her core business entails manufacturing and distributing halaal-certified sauces, pastes and spices.

Danisa, grew up in the township called Kwandengezi in Marianhill, and completed her matric and then her Diploma in Hospitality Management at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) in 2000.

RENGADU ENCOURAGES FUTURE FOOD SCIENCE STUDENTS TO LEARN AS MUCH AS ONE CAN AND MAKE THE MOST OF IT

Danielle Rengadu, a food technologist and DUT Alumna shares insight into the exhilarating field of Food Science and talks about her recent Master’s research on microencapsulated probiotics.

Rengadu started her academic journey at the university, completing her National Diploma in Food Technology in 2015. In 2017, she did her in-service training as required by DUT and in 2018 she returned to complete her Bachelor of Technology in Food Technology.

FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ASSISTED TO TRANSITION FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO UNIVERSITY

The exciting five-day First Year Orientation 2022 programme to facilitate a smooth transition of new students from high school to University is taking place. The programme which is held online, via Microsoft Teams resumed on Monday, 07 February 2022.

The Orientation commenced with the DUT Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Thandwa Mthembu officially welcoming the first-year students and their parents to the DUT Community.
