EcoWare Updates

Due to the loss of over 4,300 reusable EcoWare containers last semester, UVM Dining is returning to an EcoWare exchange system this semester. Learn more about how 86% of EcoWare containers were lost in this Vermont Cynic article featuring some of our Eco-Reps!

Visit an Eco-Rep EcoWare table this month or cashier in Central, Redstone or Harris Millis dining anytime to claim your FREE membership and learn more.

In dining halls you can get a meal to-go using EcoWare (once per meal period):

  • Give your EcoWare token to the cashier and ask for an EcoWare container (a flat box or soup container). If you would like to also dine-in, please inform the cashier, and they will have you swipe for that meal.
  • Fill your EcoWare with food from the dining hall. Leave the dining hall and enjoy your meal.
  • Return your empty EcoWare container to an EcoWare return bin located in most dining locations. You will receive a new token (or clean container if you are ready for your next to-go meal).

In the retail locations you can opt for your meal to be served in EcoWare (where available):

  • Give your EcoWare token to the cook/server and ask for an EcoWare container (a flat box or soup container).
  • Save 25 cents at the register. Enjoy your meal.
  • Return your empty EcoWare container to an EcoWare return bin located in most dining locations. You will receive a new token.
REMEMBER:
  • You should always have either a coin OR a container. Don't give up one without getting the other in exchange.
  • Don't ditch your container anywhere -- return it to an EcoWare bin.
  • The clip is yours to keep for convenience. You only need to exchange the coin itself with Dining staff.
If you have questions or issues email UVM Dining Sustainability Manager Nicole.Reilly@uvm.edu
