Social media has become a huge part of our culture's form of communication. We would appreciate parents/guardians, teachers, and school staff to come “like” the Puma Pride PTA at Firestone Charter Academy Facebook page. We will be using this forum for reminders, updates and announcements alongside the @pumapridepta Instagram page. It would be amazing if our likes/followers equaled that of our enrolled students!

A Call to Action
Substitute Teachers Needed
|

For many schools, not just Firestone Charter Academy, COVID-19 has created staffing issues. For various reasons staff may need help covering their classes (sick days, waiting on COVID-19 test results, quarantine, etc). There is a way some of us can step up and help fill this need: substitute teaching. Obviously not everyone is in a position to help, but some of us are.
What better way to support our FCA staff through this pandemic than getting into the trenches alongside them and working together to pull our community through this.
Typically the process of becoming a substitute teacher can be quite involved. However, due to the overwhelming need for substitute teachers the Colorado Department of Education has created a special Substitute Authorization which is quicker and has a shorter turn around time. You will need to submit fingerprints and an application for this authorization as well as be able to confirm completion of high school or its equivalent (there is an out of pocket fee for both fingerprinting and the application). The Colorado Department of Education is offering a $300 stipend for new substitutes.

Puma Pride PTA is looking for a Secretary for the 2022-2023 school year! In this role you would take minutes at meetings; co-sign formal papers with the president: authorizations for payment, resolutions and formal letters; handle PTA correspondence as directed by the president; and maintain and preserve PTA records and important documents to pass on at the end of the term.

Encore Teacher of the Year
One of our favorite events of the year is the Tribute to Teachers award celebration sponsored by St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation. We love it because it recognizes and honors our outstanding teachers for their excellence in teaching.
Please help by nominating a teacher who you believe exemplifies excellence for a Teacher of the Year Award. Visit St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation's website at https://stvrainfoundation.org/programs/tribute-to-teachers/ for the nomination form. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

It’s time to celebrate the volunteers who are working hard to make our school a better place! The Volly Awards honor the amazing parent volunteers who work tirelessly to support their school’s students, teachers, and staff. If you want to shine the spotlight on an amazing parent who’s made an impact at our school, you can nominate them for a Volly Award below! Each winner will receive VIP recognition, along with a $150 Visa gift card and 50 custom printed shirts for their school from Booster Spirit Wear.

Students from the elective class "Core Virtues in Action" are planning a Parents Night Out/Movie Night Fundraiser to raise money for victims of the Marshall Fire. Sign up at the link below! This event is only open to FCA families.

Dollar Jean Fridays proceeds will now be donated toward gift cards for those effected by the Marshall Fire.

Has your child's teacher gone above and beyond? Nominate him/her for a Golden Apple Award! The Golden Apple Award recognizes outstanding achievements of ALL our FCA staff (not just teachers) who dedicate their valuable time to make our school wonderful! A winner and a runner up will be announced during assemblies for Grammar Academy and Logic Academy. Please write a brief and specific narrative for why you are nominating a FCA staff member. Nomination forms are available in printable pdf form and also in digital form.
