SUPER BOWL PARTY: THIS SUNDAY!

Please send your students with a finger food to share. Jennifer Pool is organizing so we don't all bring the same thing. Let me know if you need me to put you in touch with her. We will have chicken fingers from Jack's as a substantial base to go with any snack foods. The party starts at 5PM. We will watch the game in The Bridge until halftime. Students will have many opportunities to win gift cards and play games. This is always a fun event, and I hope your students can make it!

YOUTH BAND: NEXT SUNDAY!

Does your student play an instrument or like to sing? We will be having a band rehearsal at 4PM next Sunday, February 20 to reintroduce music to our MYF program! This will be a lot of fun – I hope your student can be there!

We are also introducing two music programs. Matt Headley, our Director of Music and Worship Arts, will be coming to MYF every first Sunday, and we are starting "Family Choir" on fourth Wednesdays from 6-7PM. Parents are invited to this as well! We will rehearse with the choir for one hour following Wednesday Night Supper. Students will have leadership opportunities through these ministries, and they will get to share the joy of music together!

30 HOUR FAMINE: FEBRUARY 26-27!

Our next big event is 30 Hour Famine at the end of February. This event is FREE, but please confirm with me that your student plans to attend, and tell me if they want to bring a friend! Students will learn about local and global poverty. The morning will start with a service project at Community Enabler, we will go to Big Time Entertainment that afternoon, there will be lessons with Pastor Kyle, Jean Smith, and Cheyenne and Katie Mattox throughout the day on Saturday, and we will stay overnight at the church. There will now be an educational, simple meal at dinner time, and kids will have coffee and juice while we are at the church. Students will try foods from impoverished places around the world, and I am sure they will really enjoy it! Caroline and Lucy have put something great together.

We are raising funds for WorldVision in the narthex the next two Sundays! WorldVision is a global, faith-based non-profit that organizes an annual event called 30 Hour Famine. The Famine is a way to educate students about poverty while raising money to feed people in need. At the conclusion of our fundraising, we will look at WorldVision's gift catalog together to identify where we want our donations to make an impact. We will raise money at a booth in the narthex before and after the service on Sundays February 6 and 13. I need students to join me for this, so please let me know what days you know your kid(s) can be there.
