Call for disaster funding
BMRG needs landowner input to a submission calling for disaster funding to support the costs of repair to local properties following damage caused by the rain and flooding in the Mary River catchment. We need you to submit details of damage to your property by 18 February.

Kolan River project success
The Kolan River stabilisation project is complete. BMRG work effectively stabilised 830m of the Kolan riverbank, withstanding the impact of recent extreme weather despite being so recently completed. The project will prevent 5 000 tonnes of sediment reaching the reef each year.

$20M for pests and weeds
The Australian Government announced $20M to be matched by funding from states and territories to reduce the impact of pests and weeds on agriculture production, the environment and native wildlife.

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is urging poultry owners to enhance biosecurity measures after cases of avian influenza were reported recently in more than 40 countries. Bird watchers should also be alert to signs in birds in their area.
