Almighty and everlasting God, whose will it is to restore
all things in your well-beloved Son, the king of kings, and
lord of lords; Mercifully grant that the peoples of the earth,
divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought
together under God’s most gracious rule; who lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and
for ever. Amen.

HBCUs are engines of justice, equity, and social mobility.
HBCUs are rooted in faith, community, and service.
You are invited to support the Absalom Jones Fund for Episcopal HBCUs, which aids the students, faculty and staff of Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh, North Carolina and Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina.

Urgent need to Welcome a Stranger and Build the Beloved Community
In August, 74,000 Afghan Allies (individuals and their families who worked for the US Gov't or humanitarian NGOs) were evacuated from Kabul and transported to Safe Havens at US Military bases. 56,000 of our Allies have been resettled in communities across the US, including Sacramento, which is already home to the largest Afghan community in the US. Also, 10 families have been resettled in Sonoma County and are being hosted by individuals from St John's, Petaluma and Incarnation, Santa Rosa. Click here for Press Democrat article about their work.
This effort has maxed out the 9 official resettlement agencies, including our own Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM). The 18,000 Allies remaining at the Safe Havens desperately want to get on with their lives and be settled in a new home.
Here's where a group of individuals, or a church, can help. Recognizing the urgent need to resettle the remaining Allies, the State Department along with the 9 resettlement agencies, and the Rockefeller Foundation created and launched the Sponsor Circle program. Sponsor Circles will be matched with and directly resettle an Afghan family. The Circles will perform the functions of the resettlement agencies. Each Circle will be paired with an umbrella agency (EMM is one of the umbrella agencies) who will help the Circle with the process.
The steps to organize a Circle, apply to become a Circle, and the responsibilities of a Circle are explained on the Sponsor Circles.org website. All it takes is 5 individuals, with a heart to Welcome a Stranger and to Build the Beloved Community, to form and begin a Circle. There is much help available from the Sponsor Circle network to guide you in the process.
The Afghan Resettlement Team looks forward to connecting with interested folks in the Diocese and sharing more about this life changing (for the Afghans and the Circle participants) opportunity.

Blessing Bag ministry was on hold for January so now it’s time to get ready for February.
A big change is that from now on bags will need to be at my house or St. Patrick’s by the second Sunday of each month.
There will be a sign in the Narthex as to where to put them. If you bring them to our house and we are away just leave them on our front porch.
This ministry really matters! The people that receive the Blessing Bags through Redwood Gospel Mission are hungry and have no resources. Even a can of cold pasta is better than nothing at all. It costs about $20.00 to make up 8 bags and they are easy to package. This is a simple way we can be a blessing to others and truly make a difference.
If you have any questions about this ministry, please call me at (408)981-2024. I look forward to filling our car with Blessing Bags in February.

COVID Protocols for Worship at Saint Patrick’s
|
|
|
We need to be especially vigilant now during this spike
in cases of the virus. We will not be changing anything
at this point, except to remind you of the protocols that
we want to make sure we are following.
Wash your hands
Wear a good mask
Make sure to sit at least 6 feet away from anyone who
does not live with you. It is not safe for friends to sit
close together at this time.
Be careful of social distancing during fellowship. Wear
your mask when you are not eating. Please do not
get close together.
We want everyone to be safe.
Thank you for observing these safety measures.
|
|
Set us free, O God, from the bondage of our sins, and
give us the liberty of that abundant life which you have
made known to us in your Son our Savior Jesus Christ;
who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
